Please bring back the old big cinema!
The new cinema is nice yes but no one thought it would be REPLACING the old cinema. The new one is too much like an auditorium. Nothing like a cinema. It is too bright and the design just does not fit with watching movies. The old one suited it much better. Please bring it back! Otherwise you have just destroyed my only place to enjoy movies fluidly in VR. Back to Cmoar I go....

Same here. Regarding the new modern cinema, the cinema itself is great but the most important thing of all, the screen, is not. It is too big and way too close, very uncomfortable for watching movies for long, you have to be looking up all the time, even from the farthest seat.
It would be much better IMO if the screen was farther away and lower.
You suppose to be at a movie, where everything is suppose to be big, it's an event, we're not there to watch on a screen the size of a tv or feel like we're watching a movie in a high school gym. Also remember it's going to show 3D movies, those play better on a huge screen imo.

I do wonder why none of the virtual theaters have a balcony section, that would be cool for people who don't like looking up.
Well, obviously I want a big screen, not a TV-sized screen but I still think it's too big and too close, it's not comfortable, not for me at least. I also use the CineVR app and that theater is perfect, it has a big screen too but you can watch a movie way more comfortably than in Bigscreen.

The old version of the theater in Bigscreen was also big but it was placed at a better distance IMO, I watched a few movies there, I don't think I would watch a whole movie now in the current theater, which is a shame because everything else about the app is fantastic and better than ever.

Perhaps they could add some kind of slider allowing you to move the screen farther away and lower than it is. I don't know if it's even possible but I'd certainly like it, I don't like how you have to be looking up all the time, it makes my neck tired very quickly, I don't feel that way in a real cinema.

I use CinVR too, but it had some sound issues. I'm not a sound snob, stereo sound is good enough for me lol, I just remembered some stuff sounded muffled, but yeah it's a fun app. I'm always using different theater apps for different movies. If something doesn't sound good or look good in one I go to the other.
I like how the older theater had levels to it, If you sit in the back you're higher up like a balcony, that's cool and I get your point on that. When I watch stuff in the new theater I'm on my couch; I can lean back and just look up slightly; have you tried that?

I could be wrong, but I think the app already has screen scale. When you change your seat you're actually making the screen bigger and smaller. So it's there but they found a clever way to implement it.

One thing I don't like a about BigScreen is I have to use VLC or some other video player off my PC to watch movies in it... there are so many issues with that for me. I haven't watched any of my movies in BigScreen because of it, I just log into to watch the live streaming stuff. Once in a blue I go into a hosted room and those play good sometimes but most of the time it doesn't. So I think it would be cool if BigScreen created their own media player in the app, but if they don't I don't mind at all. I love their live streaming stuff and can't wait for movie nights.

Dear Bigscreen Devs,

Well, I tried the new Modern Cinema room. Not to be mean, but I don't like it at all. I loved the old cinema room, because it looked like a real traditional cinema. The Big Cinema and now the Modern Cinema both look fake, not realistic. The walls look weird, jagged angles. I've never seen a cinema that looks anything like this. Totally unrealistic. Look at Skybox VR cinema, it looks like a real cinema inside. Speakers and lights mounted along the wall, like a real theater. Aisle lighting that looks realistic. Subtle dynamic lighting that doesn't overpower the entire room. You feel like you're in a real theater in Skybox VR. That's the feel and look I was hoping the Bigscreen Team would bring back to Bigscreen, but unfortunately not. A VR cinema should look and feel realistic, not just a room with a bigscreen slapped into it. I had hopes Bigscreen would bring a realistic traditional cinema back, but I guess this isn't possible anymore. Watching a movie in a VR cinema like Skybox feels realistic, like the theater has atmosphere. Watching a movie in Bigscreen's Big/Modern Cinema rooms feels fake, cartoony, unrealistic, I know I'm in a fake theater environment. I want to lose myself in the environment while enjoying a movie. Skybox does this, Bigscreen doesn't. Does this make sense?

Also, I think the dynamic lighting in Bigscreen Big/Modern rooms is too extreme. The whole room goes pitch black during a dark scene. This isn't normal for a real theater. I should always be able to see the seats, and a bit of the walls, room, even during dark scenes. Personally, I think the dynamic lighting needs to be dialed back a bit, or give a slider switch to personalize the effect. Also, why are the virtual people only in the side seats and not mixed around the entire room? Feels like they are all trying to get away from you or something.

Anyway, just wanted to post my thoughts. Maybe I'm the only one who wants this type of realism in a VR cinema environment, but since Bigscreen isn't going in that direction for me, I probabaly will be uninstalling it. I guess back to Skybox. Thanks for trying.

You can move back to a farther seat, but it's still not as far back as it used to be. I don't understand why they keep moving us closer to the screen. I don't even like sitting this close in a real theater.

Yeah, I agree. It would seem that Bigscreen changed the scale of the entire cinema room design when they created the Big/Modern rooms. The original cinema room of BS, had the proper scale, and cinema's like Skybox, CineVR, etc., also have the proper room scale, that places the screen at a proper cinema distance and level appropriate for a cinema room size. But for some reason, BS decided to place the screen too close to the seats, which makes you want to retreat to the furthest seat. It's like they're trying to design the room so that the screen takes up almost your entire visual view while drowning out the rest of the room.

What I don't understand is that numerous people told the BS Team that they wanted the original cinema room back. But instead of recreating one like that or close to it, they went the opposite direction and produced an ugly, cartoonish "Modern" cinema room, with highly reflective walls that are distracting, and it looks nothing like the original cinema room. Both BS cinema rooms look nothing like a real theater. It just seems like the BS Team is refusing to have a proper traditional cinema room and instead, keep producing unrealistic, cartoonish rooms.

With the introduction of the virtual toys (popcorn, soda, etc) plus making the cinema rooms cartoonish and unrealistic, I have to wonder if the BS Team is trying to target Bigscreen VR towards kids more than adults?

Skybox always felt like a little matinee cinema, not a I max.... the new theater is closer to what you get at imax.... matinee cinema has it's place when you want to watch a indie film or something close to that, but if you watching Avengers, John Wick, ect you want a imax 3D... with really good dynamic lighting.

Disagree. Skybox is a typical traditional theater size and represents what a real theater looks like at most local theaters, at least where I live. The "Modern" cinema in BS is not like a real Imax theater or like any real theater. The scale is all wrong as well as the looks. Same problem with "Big" cinema room as well. As soon as I entered either BS cinemas, I immediately noticed how wrong the room felt and looked. Something didn't seem right with the dimensions and the screen location is too close for a room that small. If I only wanted a screen shoved up into my face, then I would use The Void or something similar. Some dynamic lighting is good, but BS has it too extreme. The whole room shouldn't go pitch black during a scene to the point you can't see any room details. That's not normal. It's needs to be dialed back a bit.

Anyway, I uninstalled Bigscreen today since it's clear that if you want a realistic theater VR experience, Bigscreen isn't the platform for that. I might check back sometime in the future to see if the BS Team learns what a real theater looks like and implements it in the environments.

If you're happy with the Bigscreen cinema rooms, then fine, but I and some others aren't.

Later.
I liked the old cinema too, I don't object to adding new ones but the old big cinema was the best one
bring it back
