Issue with multiple movie files on Plex-DLNA (3d & 2d)
Hi all, I am hoping someone can help me out. I'm thinking this is a DLNA issue but couldn't find anything when searching.

I have Unraid running a Plex server with multiple copies of the same movie, one 2D copy for viewing on my TV and a 3D copy for viewing in VR. Since there is no native support for Plex and my headsets I've enabled DLNA specifically to allow Bigcreen to browse my library. I never really use DLNA so this is the first time I've really bothered with it.

The issue is that it only plays one of the files, regardless of what I choose. I browse DLNA by folder to the 3D movie, and even though the file name states its the 3D copy, it still plays the 2D copy, which is in a completely different folder. I browse to the other path for the 2D movie and it plays the 2D movie as expected. When browsing all movies, it only shows one copy of the movie. In fact VLC shows the same location URL and behaves the same as Bigscreen which is why I thinks its a DLNA issue. It looks like DLNA doesn't care that they are two differrent files, it only plays the one it has indexed into its library. If I browse the same paths via UNC they are indeed different files.

Is this DLNA or Plex's implementation of it? Is there a way to fix this?

Are both movies under the same unraid share? I'd try moving both movies into the same folder and changing the file names, I've had some weird stuff happen with movies with long/strange filenames (you know what I mean) paired with DLNA.
Plex also has a feature which automatically detects that there's multiple of the same video/movie file, and allows you to choose which copy you want to play. That might be something to look at.
I have the exact same setup (unraid with plex) and just play my stuff through a browser or the Plex app and stream the desktop to bigscreen. I don't know how that'd work with 3d though.

Thanks for the response. Same share but different folders and different names. I have seen weird behavior with long file names as well. I'll try changing locations and file names and see what happens. As far as Plex via the browser or PC app, they both see two instances of the movie so that appears to work as expected, its just when I use DLNA in BigScreen or or VLC. I'll post the results after I check it. Thanks again.
