Bigscreen requires VR to use. There are other solutions available for non VR users, such as Amazon Prime's Watch Party feature.

Peregrine, You should update your game page to say "VR Required" because I didn't see that and thought it was one of those "VR supported" games that I play that has both options available because it actually says "VR supported" on the store page. I'm looking for the virtual theater experience and I don't think Amazon Prime can provide that , plus I can't afford to subscribe to it.

Unfortunately this cannot be changed as we need to allow Bigscreen to be launched without a VR headset connected so that people on Oculus Go and Quest can launch it in Remote Desktop mode to connect to their mobile device.

What do you mean it can't be changed? It is text. I tried to launch the remote desktop mode , then realized that I needed the VR headset for it to work to put the code in. So you saying your store page needs the text saying it is VR and non-VR "VR supported" is a lie. This is currently a VR only game and a VR required game. I saw a video on how to connect the remote desktop mode. The only thing desktop mode does is allow people with VR headsets to access their desktop , on the big screen, in VR headset. IT NEEDED THE VR HEADSET TO WORK. Also when I tried to install the audio it messed up my computer and the audio was messed up for some of my games on here and for when I do live recordings. I uninstalled it and had to change my audio setting back after your "game" messed it up. THIS IS NOT A VR SUPPORTED GAME! It can be if you make it so it is. You know where you can play a game without ever using or plugging in a VR headset. This was originally the reason I posted. I just wanted to see if you were in the process of making it non-VR. You are just telling me first where else to go online for non VR like Amazon Prime, then tell me your "game" is needing the "VR supported" text on the store page when STEAM temselves will tell you that "VR supported" game is a game that runs in NON VR AND IN VR. This means you do not need a VR headset to play the game. I do not have a VR headset and I can't play your game so is this game VR supported , NO!!
Awesome! Oct 6, 2020 @ 7:10pm
Dude, if you took the time to read the store page for a second, you'd see it says VR everywhere. Don't be dumb.
AnthonyCZ95 Oct 6, 2020 @ 7:37pm
Dude if you took the time to search "VR supported" games on here, you would know that 90% or more, excluding this game application, are run first in non-VR and VR is supported for those games. What does your response to me mean? That the store page has the word VR all over it? SO? Don't be dumb. I have nothing against you or the developer of the game. Simply asked a question and for some reason, the developer can't say "yeah it in the works" or "No it is not and will never be". I just want to know and not be lied to on this forum , having back and forth messages with the VR game developer, suddenly telling me that they can't change the text on the game's store page because that would change the game and not allow functions in the game. Hey developer that is not how it works.
Awesome! Oct 6, 2020 @ 8:34pm
You're coming across as very passive aggressive in your comments. You know it's VR only now, so just drop it and move on. Stop wasting your time here.
AnthonyCZ95 Oct 6, 2020 @ 9:20pm
I am not asking you . I am asking the developer, unless you are the same one, on another acccount. I am not going to drop an interest in the product and want to know if it will be available without a VR headset. It still says "VR Supported" on it. I saw this game application a while ago and when I first saw it , it said "VR Only". I know it was always VR. Did you read my original post? "So I don't have a VR Headset and it looks like that is the only way for this to run is with a VR Headset. Is there going to be a just PC version?"

I am asking, is the developer or developers of this app going to make a non VR version of this? Also same question but will it be combined with the current VR version? Will non VR users be able to interact with VR users if separate or combined?

By the way, "Awesome!", I am surprised you didn't call me out for the spelling mistake I made in my post before you called me dumb and then saying it VR only now, when it was always VR only and I said that in the first post! Yeah I spelled "themselves" wrong and put it without the "H". Does that make me dumb, no. I just typed too fast and missed the key. I guess I must be dumb for expressing an interest in the product and posting on the app forum asking a question about it. You know what I think is dumb? The way the avatars look without arms. That is my opinion. I could ask the developers if they are going to add some arms to the avatar but it seems asking and voicing my thoughts is something that people on this steam forum app can't understand. If you don't know these answers, just don't care, or suddenly don't like someone asking a question, then just don't respond. Again, When I first saw this game, It did say "VR Only" , but this week or last month, I find the game application store page again and it now says "VR Supported" so I am like OK I can now play it but I can't. I get "awesome!" you are saying it is a VR game. Again, I know that and knew that when I made the thread topic. Do you get what I am saying/typing/wrote? Read and reread this again if you have to, to understand it.
Peregrine  [developer] Oct 9, 2020 @ 2:33am
That VR Supported text is added automatically by Steam because the game can be launched without a VR device connected to the computer. As I mentioned earlier, this is to allow mobile VR headset users to launch Bigscreen in remote desktop mode.

Well YOU or STEAM can add a "notice" to clear up confusion. Ask them if you need to. Just letting you know because I been on Steam only 4 years. If you don't want to answer the actual question and other questions I put, fine don't . I don't care. I made my own virtual theater like 20 years ago in a virtual type world and somehow managed to play an actual movie. Even though that is long gone, I can still create my own virtual theater and it seems that is what I must do because ALL of the virtual theater options on steam that I have paid for or tried free, just don't work.
Questions you can answer if you want or maybe you will say you already answered or now mad at me for pointing something out and then refuse to answer any further questions just like one other VR developer of another virtual game that I tried to have a conversation with. Up to you:
Are you ever going to make a non VR version of this application?
Will the avatars ever have a neck, arms, and legs?
Can this be viewed in first person ?
What other solutions available for non VR users?
Any other questions I asked?
Wait a minute, you just said the "game" can be launched WITHOUT a VR device connected to the computer? How?
I don't have a VR device and can't enter the lobby so the game can't be launched without a VR device. You are wording and saying it wrong by saying that. You admit that a VR headset is needed to launch the game. Do you see what I am saying because I see what you are saying even though it is worded wrong. I guess you and steam consider "launching" the game is when a screen pops up. Yeah it technically "launches" a pop up screen. A launch for me is actually getting in the game, moving around in it, playing the content, not trapped at the pop up screen saying one needs to use a code and connect a VR headset to maybe have it launch in desktop mode. Yes I know that is VR only at this time and that is why again I am asking :Will there ever be a option to enter the lobby and watch a movie or whatever is on my desktop for people that do not own a VR headset? Any plans on it or working on it or know of anywhere that offers it paid or free? Anyone?

The game can be launched without VR so that these users can host their own rooms without having to go into VR. Launching without VR is just a simple menu that allows you to create/edit your room. You CANNOT go into rooms or into your own room as an avatar without VR. This makes it easier for room hosts.

Yet again with the same response and yet again no response to any and all questions asked. It is interesting that I can actually leave a review of the game even though I have never played the game. I guess this is because it "launched". I have reported you and your "game". Perhaps they will correct it because you can't read and can't understand what I am writing. You just continue to say what I already know about your "game" and never asked. Yeah if you reread what I wrote you will see that I understood and every response you give shows you do not.

If by notice, you mean something in the description, it is made clear if you read our store page that VR is required. As for the rest of the question, they have been answered repeatedly at this point, but it seems like you have no interest in reading answers that you don't like.

As for the rest of my question you wrote but I didn't ask anything in the previous response to you.
Further proof you do not understand what I wrote in great detail. Why can't you answer simple questions about your "game"? In the description it says keyboard/mouse is usable. Now you going to say yet again this is VR game. Again I know that, that is not the question. Also you seem to see only one question when I have asked many. These questions are for users that I know with VR headsets or they were. I can make a video on it if you still don't understand and I can circle several games on here with the "notice". All you have to do is search "VR Supported" games on here and see that some have "NOTICE: This games required a VR headset to run." or "Notice: A controller is needed to play this. Keyboard and mouse do not work" . This is literally right above the "VR only" or a "VR Supported" section. Yours doesn't have that "notice". Again I know it is VR only game right now. If you are really the developer of this, then you can answer the only question that I have been asking you but you insist on saying "this is VR game" like a programmed robot. How about I say it like this. If you understand the question, then you will answer it. If you do not understand, then you will not answer questions.
Are you ever going to make a non VR version of this application? (a "this is VR game" is not answering this question so if you think it does, it does not.)
Will the avatars ever have a neck, arms, and legs? (asking for VR users)
Can this be viewed in first person ? (again asking this for VR users)
What other solutions available for non VR users?
Do you need a picture or a video to understand?
Do you like to not answer questions that you have no interest in reading?
Do you not answer questions to questions that you do not like?
The Laughing Man Oct 10, 2020 @ 9:44pm
Dude...at this point you should realize your argument is lost. lol
It's a VR only title.
