How do I play videos or movies with BigScreen?????

I can bring up BigScreen, but once in the app and I go to Cinema, I have no way to select any videos or movies. Am I missing something about BigScreen?

I have hit every button on my Oculus controllers and nothing gets me to where I can select videos. How does it work?

I have the same problem, in oculus quest,
I don't understand an APP for view videos, that don't have option to load videos...
I can stream videos from my PC, but too laggy for HD 3D streams.
I hope they add the option to play local files.

Thanks VRnau. I had the same thing with my mixed reality headset Odyssey+ and now trying different apps with my Rift S. What is the sense of having a Big Screen if you cant select videos and movies for it. I will watch some youtube videos and see if there is an explanation. That is why this is a beta i guess. take care

In my Oculus rift, I CAN play local files, I don't in my OCULUS QUEST.

Thank you VRnau. Have to learn what I am doing wrong. Rift S should work the same as your Rift which I kind of retired my Rift CV1 once I got the Odyssey+. Just testing all my games and apps with the new Rift S. take care.

You are supposed to stream from your PC in desktop mode. I don't think it's possible to play movies locally for your VR headset.

Yeah I agree with etailer1. Directions would be nice. So i guess i wont be using Bigscreen very much if you cant select movies from Bigscreen itself. I thought that is the whole purpose of a program like this. Well off to find another app to work with my VR headset and play videos.

Bigscreen is designed to stream your desktop, which is currently only supported on PC. We plan on adding a local video player for mobile headsets later down the line, hopefully in a couple of months.

In the meantime, the best way to stream something to a mobile headset is to use Bigscreen's Remote Desktop feature from a PC. You can find a guide on how to do this at https://bigscreenvr.com/remotedesktop/

thanks Peregrine for your information. I will check that out. Not sure if i understand what you mean by a mobile headset, cause my Oculus Rift S is tethered/connected directly to my PC. I dont think I call that a mobile device- It is a VR device. Anyway, thanks again and take care.

It would also be a good option for mobile devices, to be able to connect to a DLNA.
Many routers have the option and would not depend on a PC.

Not for sharing with friends, but for SMB/DLNA shares you can use Skybox. Works great.
