You create a room, whatever environment you like, then you're in your room. Get yourself a 3D movie formatted either SBS or OU and get it playing on your desktop using whatever video player you normally use, set it for full screen, then go into Bigscreen settings and check the box to display the big screen, and you will see a setting where you turn on 3D for either SBS or OU corresponding to your video format. If you don't have it full screen or if you have anything else displayed, like a clock or video controls or even the mouse pointer, it will mess up the effect.
p.s. There are some good 3D demos on youtube.

thanks for the reply!
1)So is there any virtual theatre function where you can watch a 3d movie without having to buy/download one? (really just want to test the effect on the reverb) - noticed when I was in the bigcinema lobby there appeared to be some kind of ad's for a 3d movie shows...........?
2)Have no idea about SBS or OU formats and have no movies on my PC (at the moment) - could you provide a link to a 3d youtube demo and then explain how you can get it to work on bigcinema (step by step) - also not sure what you mean create a room (assume you mean in big cinema) - also guess you don't need a 3d monitor to do this as you are watching on the VR headset (which gives a 3d effect?)

1) Supposed to be coming in the future, i.e. pay $X and attend movie in Bigscreen. At least once a year or so ago they hosted a (free) showing of Top Gun 3D and it was very good. For now, you supply your own content or attend someone else's movie. There are plenty of people hosting rooms with movies playing, including 3D.
2) SBS means side-by-side versus over/under (OU). There are also other ways of formatting 3D content but SBS and OU are what you can use in Bigscreen.

Their UI has changed but you'll figure it out:

Here is an appropriate 3D SBS video on youtube:

Correct, you do not need any 3D hardware other than your VR.

1) Go in Bigscreen.
2) On your control panel click an environment, such as Big Cinema (there are others, Campfire, Void, South Balcony, etc), choose any.
3) Now you are in the room/environment that you created.
4) See your desktop? Click on your desktop, open a browser, go to youtube link (you could do this preparation even before starting VR if you want).
5) Now you should be sitting in your room in Bigscreen watching the video play in your browser on your desktop. You will see it is "side-by-side" (there is an image for each eye).
6) On the youtube video, click the Fullscreen button. This puts it fullscreen on your desktop on the screen in your room in VR/Bigscreen.
7) On your Bigscreen control panel, go to the Monitors page and click the button for 3D SBS. Now you should see 3D instead of the two separate side-by-side images.
8) Get rid of your Bigscreen control panel so you can watch the video. As I said before, you want to get rid of (close, minimize, whatever) any non-3D items from your screen, ex. clocks, messengers, SteamVR status window, even mouse pointer) because it will interfere with the effect.
