now maybe its because im playing at night when the people on my side of the country are asleep and the west coast (along with euopeans) are awake but when i try streaming my desktop its always choppy for people, what is about the minimum speed for streaming things like youtube

I'm sorry, the choppy streams from people are typically due to CPU limitations and our (Beta) streaming technology. It's only sometimes limited by bandwidth. We recommend at least 2Mbps Upload Bandwidth up for 480p streaming in a 4-person room, and 10 Mbps for 1080p streaming.

If your desktop is choppy for people, that's most likely your CPU. At the moment, we perform best on i7 Skylake CPUs. Anything older than Skylake will not be able to do 30fps properly. If you cannot upgrade your CPU to a newer Skylake i7 CPU, I recommend sticking with 480p streaming.

We're still working on our streaming tech, so hopefully it'll get better in 2017. Just keep in mind that Bigscreen is like Twitch streaming but significantly more intensive on your PC.

I'm not sure. Although I've read technical spec sheets for older CPUs that claim to have hardware accelerated encoding support for our media engine, it appears that only Skylake and Kaby Lake will work properly for now.

If you have that CPU, perhaps you could try and let me know?

i currenly have a sandybridge-e and it works fine (apart form the small hickups i get on all VR stuff)
