If you're doing text-heavy stuff, go with 1080p. Less fps but crisp text.
If you're watching a movie, 480p at 30fps tends to be good enough. You can probably also lower your desktop resolution itself to 720p or 1080p instead of much higher resolutions that are common these days.
Upload requirements tend to be 2Mbps per 1080p upstream (i.e. 3 people in a room = 6 Mbps upstream max). This varies a bit.
Is enabling the integrated GPU required for the acceleration you talk about?
Do I need to install some extra software?
Having an i7 Skylake or newer (like the 6700K) ensures that you will be able to stream outbound to others at 1080p 30fps. Have you asked other people in the room? You might be streaming an awesome stream!
However, if other people have an older CPU, they might still be struggling to stream at 30fps, so you would still see a low FPS stream from them.
The Skylake CPU's media encoder allows us to encode outgoing streams at 30fps very easily. Does that make sense?
> Is enabling the integrated GPU required for the acceleration you talk about?
Have you disabled the integrated GPU somehow? I wonder if this is blocking our hardware acceleration and thus relying on software acceleration on the CPU.
Also, I mostly test with my brother and the problem is more Upload speed. YOur networking mechanism need to be enhanced because I can uplaod at 20mbps and sometime I see that when streaming with 1080p, its not even sending at 1mpbs. When this is happening my brother say its stutter a lot.
Then after a while, I can see hte upload up to 2.5+Mbits and he confirm to me that evrything is fast.
Not sure what or how you are streming but you should look at connections optimization as the problem on my side is not really the CPU encoding stuff but mostly networking.
Also what about the bigscreen resolution settings? Thanks once again for all your help!
Do you mean my old HD7870 GPU will be used to encode my stream ? Because I have an old i5 750 CPU and I was wondering why I was able to perfectly encode a game with OBS (1080p 60fps) and I was not able to stream correctly with BigScreen (like 2fps for other users). My upload speed is 100Mb/s so no prob here.
Thank you for this software !
Edit: And I want to say thank you for this incredible software. Tonight, I tested watching a movie (avatar 3d) in the cinema... And later I switched to a 2D movie... The Matrix. Wow, what a mindF..K (in a good sense)... The guy I was testing it said how weird it would be to take the headset off... And still be in a theatre, hahaha.
Keep up the good stuff! How do you manage to keep this great programm free? When will it go out of beta? When can I pay you for your work?
I know it's in the multiplayer section in the tabs, you can set it to 1080p. Also there's a few tweaks in the settings section I believe, but I'm not looking at it and have to make a grocery run for wifey. Let me know if you can't find it and I can find the exact spot. But I'm like 99% sure it's the Multiplayer tab
Can you send me a screenshot of your Bigscreen Multiplayer Settings? You cannot click the dropdown? It should have 3 options, 720p and 1080p.
Glad you're loving the software. Please leave us a review if you want! And if you have bugs, problems, or feedback, post it here or email us.
The program will always be free, but we plan to one day sell premium stuff (avatars, environments, and extra features)
