Bigscreen Beta

Bigscreen Beta

Very blurry/pixelated text normal?
Just tried BigScreen beta and it's literally impossible to do anything with my desktop unless I pull the display really close to me in order to read the text. Super Sampling is set to 1.5 and Anti-Aliasing is 4x.

Is this normal? Or am I supposed to be seeing clear text while my desktop is on the big screen?

I was told this was a headset problem, not the program problem. Myself, I am about to buy the Pimax 4k to help with some of this.

Yep, this is due to the low resolution of current VR hardware. You're on the right track (adjusting settings, increasing screen size).

That is simply not the case.
The text on displayed desktop is horrible in bigscreen, yet the much smaller and farther away desktop view in the defualt steam vr is far more readable and shows many more pixels.

I am currently using a pimax 5k, and I remember this was a lot better, and more readable with the CV1 and original Vive.

It's not a resolution problem either, I can see plenty of details in videos, pictures etc and the interface itself is just fine.
It's text on desktop that seems to grab some incredibly erroneous scaling.

my headset resolution is 5k but I can barely read large text on the large movie theatre screen!

This is definitely still a huge problem. Putting my desktop up on bigscreen makes it insufferably pixelated, yet anywhere else (steamVR menu, OVRtools panel) the desktop looks perfectly crisp on my Index.

Bigscreen has some scaling issues.

The big screen in rooms are a fixed size. If you have a monitor with an unusual aspect ratio, you may want to either change the resolution it is running at, or just put it up on your personal monitor in Bigscreen, which you can reposition and resize as you like.
