Too many cores
So I can't play this game on my PC due to a black screen freeze, I've tried numerous fixes and nothing works.

Anyway I came across this discussion

As HakanaiSeishin mentioned the game simply refuses to start if you have too many cores, is there any way of getting LP2 to work without reducing the amount of active cores in the bios?

Perhaps try changing the Job Thread value in he CFG. You can find it within Documents.

Could you explain a bit more? I can't seem to find that.

Go to Documents>Capcom>Lost Planet 2>Config

It will be at the very bottom and just set it to 4 or something. I've just tried this myself and it does absolutely nothing, so don't get your hopes up.

Alternatively, if you can set the number of CPU cores in your BIOS then do it that way and it will work, that's how I get the game to run. It's a little inconvenient having to restart a couple times to play LP2, but hey if it works it works.

My game doesn't get past the initialization phase so my config is empty, I guess I'll just limit my cores to play if changing the config hasn't worked for you.

The following option allowed me to run Lost Planet 2 on Windows 10 with a 16 core CPU (AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2950X 16-Core Processor, 3500 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)).

Start > Run > msconfig
Within msconfig
Boot > Advanced Options
Number of Processors, for example, change from 16 to 6.
Click Ok > Apply > Ok > Reboot

When done playing, reverse the process to enable 16 cores.

This Is an old thread but I am having this issue now. When you change the cores in msconfig do you need to reboot pc?

I believe if you replace dinput8.dll with the file here your game will load - no more disabling cores needed
