off the record has everything DR2 has and more, including new weapons, vehicle, missions, a whole new area and sandbox mode which is awesome.

Sandbox just lets you do whatever you want, no story missions, no time limits, no end of the game, plus it has loads of challenges to do around the map that include stuff like time trial races, kill so many zombies in the quickest time and so on.

The story mode is pretty much the same as DR2, even the cutscenes are mostly the same, just with Frank West voice instead of Chuck Greene, also if you play Co-op then the 2nd player plays as Chuck and first player is Frank, instead of having two of the same person like in DR2.

They are both great games, but DR2:OTR has more to offer and Sandbox is a lot of fun, so I'd probably say get that if you are only getting one of them.
You should probably know, that DR2 considered canon, while DR2:OTR is non-canon, having some significant main plot differences. Still, both are nice games, but I suppose you should play DR2 first and only then try OTR, to compare for maximum enjoyment and game experience.:butterfly:
If you played the original Dead Rising on 360 then definately get off the record, if not the either is fine, DR2 is a really good game in its own right.
Thanks guys, yeah i played the original Dead rising on 360 years ago and enjoyed it! is off the record more like that than Dead Rising 2?
OTR has Frank West which re-introduces the camera element and has unique challenges. The camera is a part of what made DR1 so fun imo. DR2 is fun, not saying it isn't. Chuck is his own character.

If you still have a 360 it's also worth noting there are two downloadble games, one that acts as a prequel for DR2 and another that happens before OTR iirc. The one that happens before OTR is best played co-op, it includes both Chuck and Frank.

Honestly I think all the titles are worth playing. Dead Rising as a franchise is quite fun and Capcom Vancouver did a good job.
You're incorrect, sir. And I'll repeat - OTR is a non-canon game, and thus not considered as part of main Dead Rising storyline. Thats why it can't happen "before" OTR at all.

And if Jonesy still have 360, and want to get full story experience, he should know that:
  • (canon) Dead Rising
  • (canon) Dead Rising 2: Case Zero (Prequel to DR2)
  • (canon) Dead Rising 2
  • (canon) Dead Rising 2: Case West (an episode that takes place right where DR2 ends)
  • (non-canon) Dead Rising 2: Off the Record (as non-canon has no prequels or sequels, takes place instead of Dead Rising 2 storyline, with some different story moments)

Thanks for that, i do not own a 360 anymore to be honest, i did play Dead rising 1 and i played Case zero as it was an arcade game if i remember.

Not played anything past that, and im not one for story in the dead rising games, im going for gameplay, would you say OFF THE RECORD is a better game gameplay wise? does it offer more content that what DR2 would do?

Yes,OTR offers a lot more than DR2 did gameplay wise. You have the enhanced DR2-Basegame with all the items and things to do and get Sandbox mode on top of that.
OTR is a lot easier with that Sandbox Mode. All your money, all experience gained, all weapons and cars unlocked - will be available for the main storyline too, making it much more easy. The gameplay isn't really enhanced, but the game itself a bit more optimized that DR2. Still - I recommend u to get both, start from DR2 and then OTR.
