Works great now!
Anyone advise on this, as this is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiclous to have a game that doesnt support controllers.
The only method that has worked for me is using SCP drivers on a PS3/4 controller that emulates an original 360 controller.

I was able to get this to work with a combination of this and adding the following from this guide to the ini file. (credit: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=818856305)
[InputHook]
HookLL=0
HookCOM=1
HookSA=0
HookWT=0
HOOKDI=1
HOOKPIDVID=1
HookName=0
HookMode=0
Also want to mention the version I downloaded of the file is newer and I couldn't find the following in the program.
Open advanced tab of controller and disable native mode.
Set FakeWMI to be EnabledUSB.
Set Fake DI to be EnabledCalback.
Check of Fake WIN Trust.
Also be sure both the ini file and the dll file are in the dr2 folder!
But I can finally say this is the solution.
So the most important thing is you have to enable the hook mode to compatibility mode.
This is the only thing that matters, aside from basic settings.
Latest versions do not have this option, I've searched everywhere (dunno if it actually exists)
So yeah to sum it up:
You have to set your joystick to actually working condition in the settings, make sure the hook is set to compatibility and disable the force feedback. Then you're good to go!
Follow this guide correctly and you're good to go!
360 support "was"in this dr 1 and 2 at the start, but updates broke it for most,
including myself.
