Game hangs on Black Screen at launch.

When I launch the game, it just hangs on a black screen and nothing happens.

The game launched the first time I booted it, I had to disable the controller because it was causing the mouse cursor to flicker on and off, and I changed some graphics settings settings, but then the games froze. And ever since then it won't load up. I think it may be the graphics settings I changed. Does anyone have a default copy of the rendersettings.ini (Found in Documents > My games > Dead Rising 2) I could borrow just to test if the game will boot with default rendersettings.ini file ?


I tried the flowing as well:
Reinstalling the game.
Unplugging the controller.
Sound fix thing.
Setting nvidia control panel to "Single GPU" instead of SLI.
Tried truing off g-sync
Verifying game cache in steam
Tried deleting the rendersettings.ini file.

If try running the deadrising2.exe directly from it's dictionary, it just doesn't start at all, and it just generates a crash file called crash_0319_163525.txt

Should I just install the GFWL dvd copy instead ? Does anyone know it that one is working ?

Update: Ok, I got the game to load past the black screen, into the main menu. You just have to wait like 2 minutes while it sits on the black screen, and eventually it loads to the title screens / main menu

But I can't do anything in game, because it just keeps randomly freezing. And the steam overlay is reporting 1 fps...

This is highly frustrating. How the hell are the rest of you getting this game to work, you lucky beggers... :(

Can you please list your specs? I believe this could be a hardware issue that remains for you.

Edit, I should clarify that at the main menu and in game there is no freezing. The ONLY place where the game suddenly starts freezing from moment to moment is when you enter the graphics options menu.

I found that after the sound thing, when i start the game, i have to wait about 20 seconds for the game to start. This is on a ssd mind you

Yeah pretty much same here. On dual SSD's in raid 0 here as well. I don't think it's about pc speed tho, there is something wrong with this steam version of the games (both DR2 & OTR).

I've been doing some testing tho. And I found that if you restart the computer, when you load back into the desktop, before you do anything, try loading up either game. I noticed that it starts up straight away with no hanging black screen then. But if you exit the game, then try running it again, you will find that from then on it will do the black screen hang for 30 secs thing untill you restart the the computer again.

So make of that what you will. I'm not sure what it means.

I've never seen anything remotely like that. I don't have SLI though. Loads normally, no black screens or any thing like that , no frame rate weirdness.

I'd say make sure it's not using SLI, make sure you don't have any settings forced in the video drivers. That can work with some, but not all games, so you generally don't want to force any settings in the drivers.

Yea......2018 and I cant get this piece of ♥♥♥♥ game to load. Luckily I didnt pay a lot for it. Means I will not buy another game from this developer though.
