i launch on my desktop pc this morning, played an hour, logged off. Just now launched the game on steam deck and the controls completely stopped working. Can't even get past the main menu, the game just doesn't register my controller inputs. Has anyone ran into this?

nevermind figured it out.
On main menu go to
-Settings/PC settings/Controller: and switch it to "ON" . that will fix it.

I still see other posts on this but, I do the obvious, enable steam overlay since I bought this version a long time ago. My 360 controller works on all other games with steam overlay. I go in game, to PC settings, and the spot where it's asking to enable or disable the controller is greyed out. A non-option. It's always been that way for me. Verified file integrity. Sorry to rant here, but I've wanted to play this game again for a bit.

Can't figure out what to do to make that controller setting in game available to change...

have you tried going on NexusMods website? i believe there is a mod specifically for xbox controller compatibility.
