PSA: USE 60HZ AND VSYNC ON TO AVOID ISSUES
PSA: USE 60HZ AND VSYNC ON TO AVOID ISSUES
This applies to both Dead Rising 2 and Dead Rising 2: Off the Record.
All other settings such as resolution and graphics seems safe to change.

This really should be pinned somewhere.
These games WILL have issues if you increase HZ or turn off vsync. Especially when trying to play online. Even affects trying to join each other directly.
It also solves the infamous infinite loading during Off the Record Case 7-4. So you do not need to turn off multicore through files and experience insane lag.

I have not tested if this solves Jack not showing up in Ante Up during co-op play.
If it doesn't, just play singleplayer until you see Jack is present at the Ante Up place and then invite your co-op partner.

I have played with someone while running the game on 240hz vsync OFF not sure if he did run it over 60hz but we never had any problems. sometimes he dced but he was playing over mobile data so... but we finished the whole game just recently. Dead Rising 2 that is don't know about Off the Record since I can't buy it on my account :(

Dead Rising 2 co-op seem to mostly work fine on different settings except for the joining process can sometimes be very tricky. And looks like both need 60hz to find each other in Terror is Reality multiplayer mode (altho crashes anyway when the final round ends).
The biggest issue we had during our only playthrough was Jack not being in the room for Ante Up caused the game to crash which I'm not sure what causes it or if 60hz vsync on will fix it. But he will always be there in singleplayer anyway.

It is probably the most important for Off the record story mode so Case 7-4 can actually be passed after securing the safe house.

This tip really should be pinned somewhere, it was pretty helpful for me. With the game set to 120Hz, I had super erratic frametimes and huge frame rate drops when the screen was filled with zombies. While it's not completely stutter-free now either, it is heaps better.

I also set the display's refresh rate to 60Hz in Windows' display settings. I don't know if it helps anything here, but I know it does help for a couple of other games targeting a 60Hz refresh.

DR1 runs super smoothly at 165 FPS, so I was a bit bummed to see DR2's performance suck this much on a PC that should easily handle 120+ FPS on such an old title.
