I used 2.1.2.191 is that older or newer? I assume it's a newer version since it didn't work. I also have version 2.0.2.158; would that work?

The emulator detected the controller, I was able to change the controller setting in PC options, but the controller still didn't work. I figured out that the problem was being caused by my Logitech G13 Keyboards analog joystick being detected as controller 1. After disabling it Devices and Printers, x360ce was able to recognize my Xbox One controller as Controller 1, and now it's working in-game. Thanks to everyone that helped me out.

Edit 2: It also worked for DR2: OTR!

Excuse me, but how did you disable these systems in order to get the Xbox One controller to become recognized?

Go in to steam big picture, then Dead Rising 2, manage game, controller options, and change it to FORCED OFF. Launch game. Done.

As a side note... This works for ANY game where your controller option is "Greyed out". Hope this helps you.

this actually fixed it for me thank you!!!!!!! i use DS4Windows so my pc recognizes my ps4 controller as an xbox 360 but it still wouldnt work until i did this! thank you!!!

Found a solution. Using PS5 controller not sure of others. Right click game in steam library got to properties controller enable steam input. Then right click game hi manage then controller layout. Click template and scroll to select WASD and mouse. enjoy. Turns controller into mouse and keyboard for every and any game that can use wasd.

Ive been trying to get this to work with my wired 360 controller and my wireless series X controller. Both controllers work fine in steam and windows but not in DR2. I followed every guide here and nothing works.

Weird, disabling input should help you because it helped me. Did you had your controller plugged in while disabling input of DR2 in Big Picture mode?

Weird, disabling input should help you because it helped me. Did you had your controller plugged in while disabling input of DR2 in Big Picture mode?

i have thr seris x wireless controller and it was on and it works in steam. i also tried a wired 360 controller and that didnt work either

Okay I know what to do if the method with Big Picture doesnt work for you. Do what other people said with x360ce and then disable Steam input in Big Picture. Should work

I swear to god I'm losing my mind with this. I just refuse to play this game on mouse and keyboard but nothing works, I'm using a ps4 controller,the steam input didn't work for Dead rising 3 as well but it worked fine with DS4Windows but I tried it all on DS2 and the only thing from my controller that I menage to get to work in the game was the touch pad that gets recognized as a mouse and for some reason the start button works for opening the menu but after that I can't do anything, I tried it all of the 360ce both newer and older version, steam input, DS4Windows and still nothing, if someone got the game working with a ps4 controller please help.

You need a very specific version of x360ce for controller support to work.

You don't need to to go into big picture mode to disable steam input, you can do it by just right clicking the game from your library.


Capcom is dumb af for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up a otherwise pretty good port of the game,
Same applies for Off The Record if you want to use a controller for it too.


I use a Switch pro controller and don't seem to have any issues. Should work for any controller

Haven't seen anyone mention it here, but you can also use DS4Windows to get controller support working. Just make sure you disable steam input first.
