Cant tell, sorry.
But doesnt it come without GFWL? Well I guess in some way you can say yes.
1. DX9 verison
2. DX10 version
neither wont start the game - literally nothing happenes
Make sure that DirectX 9, redists and GFWL are installed for the game to work properly.
Here's the procedure: https://www.reddit.com/r/DevilMayCry/comments/2pnb3v/possible_fix_for_dmc4_dx10_mode_without/
The only note I would add is that, depending on your region, the date of the d3d10.dll and dxgi.dll files you are looking for may be one day older or newer than the dates on that post (In North America they should be dated July 13 2009 and November 20 2010, respectively).
Also you'll be placing the dll's in the same folder with the LostPlanetColoniesDX10.exe file.
I have tested this for Lost Planet, and sure enough where the game was previously crashing on me after a few minutes of play, I've now played for a full hour with this fix applied without any crashing at all.
Why do this instead of just uninstalling KB2670838? The main one is that you can keep Internet Explorer 11 installed, which is more secure than IE 9.
But also there are now several games that require the KB2670838 update to be installed for Windows 7 users, or they will not run at all. The two I know about for sure off the top of my head are Rocket Riot and Bioshock Remastered, but I know there are others as well.
Some of those other games have since been patched to allow non-KB2670838 users to play them (Red Faction Guerilla and Carmageddon Reincarnation are two of them), but others have not been patched and may never be.
Thank you for the fix!
does KB2670838 still cause all kinds of dx10 issues making dx10 games unplayable still ?? or has someone at microsoft actually fixed this abortion of an "update" to work with all games nowadays??
