Water Sieve spitting out polluted water...
Hello all,

I recently added a water sieve to my colony, and from my understanding of how it works, it's been malfunctioning. The sieve takes in the poluted water, and even though the animation shows that it's pumping out clean water, the small patch of polluted water that's in my fresh water starts to increase in germs whenever the sieve is operating.

I have a load that I keep refreshing to test it. The small patch of polluted water has ~ 2,500 germs, and starts to decline as the day progresses. However, when the sieve begins to pump in 'clean water', the number of germs start to rapidly grow. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

I'm trying to post a screenshot but I can't paste the image into the text window. How do I accomplish this?

water sieves dont eliminate germs, so when you pump polluted water with germs, you get clean water, with germs.

Hmm, that makes sense. Is there a way to clean the water then? Isn't all poluted water germy?

no, there is germy pwater from latrines and distillers, and non-germy pwater from skimmers and just sitting around in the slime biomes. germy pwater can be sieved and put back into your latrine, used for research, or electrolyzed. it can also be used as refinery coolant (the heat from the refinery will eventually kill the germs). non-germy pwater can be sieved and put in your fresh water tank for food

Awesome. Thank you all for your help!

do not electrolize germ water, it makes the germs go airborne and you'll get contaminated air.

germ water can be used as the dude above said, you can also boil the water, heat it up over 75 °C and let it sit for a while, then pump it to a cool spot so when it cools down you can use it anywhere.
