End game is easy and boring.
Whether you choose the hardest mode the game has to offer with additional penalties from the workshop mods such as Lights Out or just a regular mode the end game is the same every time. Its easy and boring. Building a rocket just requires producing lots of steel. Meteorites dont deal any damage to it. Dupes that go inside the rocket to fly it dont need any provisions on their journey which can last for many cycles. It feels rushed and you do it once you never want to do it ever again.
Add new schematics to molecular forge to craft rocket components. Make rockets be affected by meteorite showers. Add food requirements to the space trip based on the time. Have the option to create a limited number of outposts on asteroids. So instead of looting the asteroid you have the option to bring the stuff to the asteroid of your choosing creating a little mini base with a stranded duplicant. At a later stage as the outpost develops it can be linked with the main base with a teleportation device that requires gargantuan amounts of power to function.
I really love the game. Looking forward to the expansion and the new ideas that the devs will come up with.

end game easy and boring, while the game has no end thus no end game, i bet you mean late game :P

End game is full automation and reaching the last destination on the map, that's kind of the point. You have done everything and "beat" the game. Fastening the process of progression in later challenge asteroids is neat, honestly.

Late game does get slow and boring, because your duplicants are having to go all over the asteroid doing many giant construction errands. Setting up proper transit systems not only takes up a lot of power, but is very slow to build as well. Like your ideas though, especially regarding the outpost colony.

Why would making the rocket more complex make the game harder? Do you think you would struggle to supply the cockpit with food?

I am all for expanding the game, but I don't think anyone who reaches this part of the game would suddenly find it hard just because you added some extra steps.

Also I don't think this game needs to be hard.

When we talk about adding extra steps such as rocket parts or food to the cockpit we talk about make-believe. The game has some realism to it. That's one of the factors that drew me into buying it. I understand that things like infinite stacking resources will most likely never change but other things can be adjusted.

What would game make hard? Events such as large metorite impacts that strike from the side exposing areas of asteroid to vacuum of space and killing duplicants if they happened to be there. New diseases that promote the use of hospital and better hygiene. Printing pod that prints duplicants with random abilities, so that we as players design our bases with flatulent in mind, and other stuff. The list is big. I'm not asking for it. All I want is for the late/end game to be meaningful.

And of course everyone has fun in his/her own way. I totally respect that. If you want you can always choose No Sweat option. You are right. It doesn't need to be hard.

I get very bored by late game as well and end up losing interest. Hoping the DLC resolves that a bit or adds other ways to keep enjoying the game.

This is a case of someone who has 'won' the game, but not realising they've finished it. Anyway, I would recommend you get into modding and see about changing the game to suit your new needs.

Well, this could be a campaign mode? Goal of each mission is to leave the asteroid with your best 3 dupes and start the next harder mission?
Well, maybe that's what the different worlds are? It's just that Klei didn't lock them behind a campaign which i think is good because i hate playing the first few easy mission in almost any videogame campaign. Anyways, i do agree some more endgame content would be great.

you can always try improving your designs on the next run. I've got over 1k hours and i just designed a better piping system to prevent freezing in my aquatuners. It's still not perfect though; i've got too much pwater in the system. :)

I'm also working on a multi-tier farming setup for lettuce/pincha/balm lilly harnessing the heat from compost piles. Tons of stuff to try.
