Clearer input/output icons

I have over 200 hours in the game and what goes in and out of buildings still confuses me sometimes.
It would help if the icons were a bit more descriptive than an arrow pointing down or up because what does that even mean if buildings have their inputs and outputs placed wily nily rather than uniformly, for example, input at top, output at bottom.

So to make it a bit clearer, rather than an arrow that points downward and upward, inputs could have multiple inwards pointing arrows and outputs could have outwards pointing arrows or something along those lines.

It's not up/down it's arrow to the circle/arrow from the circle.
But I could totally agree, it's confusing all the time, especially in complicated cases, multiple arrows will make it much better.

I thought they flipped the liquid pipe icons? Are the gas pipes still up = in, down = out?

It's not a up/down arrow, it's into and out of symbols. They could flip those symbols 90 degrees and they would still make sense. Not really sure how you could improve upon it other than making the socket part of the symbol more obvious.

There is also an image that appears on the right side of the screen when building gas and liquid pipes that explains inputs and outputs

yea but it makes it seems liuke white is out and green is in its a counter intuitive design its like the doors that need to be pushed that have a handle its counter intuitive
