'Build' dirt blocks
Not a big deal really, but sometimes I like landscaping my map, being able to put down solid blocks of dirt, stone or whatever would be a nice addition imo.

You can do this with that odd critter, the one that lives on the surface of the planet. You just need to trap them in a room with whatever you need turned into tiles. I think they are limited to only dirt, regolith and a few others, but they have pretty nice colors.

I saw a post yesterday about a guy that melted 5kg algae into squares of dirt. Seems like too much work for me to make a row of dirt. But he was experimenting with the beta branch. Seems he had the idea of making a 'wild' sleet wheat farm.

Both new "park" rooms need wild plants. We'll need a way to create dirt blocks and plant wild plant somehow for those.

That's an interesting idea but yeah, very slow.. too bad sand doesn't form new blocks when you drop it from above.

while i agree with placing blocks like dirt, i think being able to plant wild plants defeats the purpose...
take yellowstone national park for example. you cant exactly get rid of all the trees and stuff, realize your mistake, and replant it all. you should have to keep the wild plants from the start, or lose them forever.

You can already plant wild seeds, and you can make dirt block where every you want using Voles. To make a dirt blocks just build a metal room in the shape of the dirt blocks you want to place like it was a mold, place dirt in a storage bin, delete the storage bin, put a vole in the room and he'll fill the free space with dirt blocks. To plant a wild seed, just drop a seed on any dirt block and wait like 10 cycles and it'll start growing on it's own.

You can also now use PIPs to replant seeds as well.

that's a real hassle, i'm talking about just taking a minute to smooth out that blocky bit of map or filling in that big hole of ore I just dug out(with dirt blocks, not gray tiles)... not spending hours cajoling critters to fill in blocks randomly or melting bits of algae...

Then no that doesn't exsist, I'm sure someone could or already has made a mod for this. And I'm assuming with the introduction of voles and pips it's a planned feature they don't ever plan on removing.

Also it take one cycle for your dupes to make a 3x9 room out of metal tiles and move a single egg into the room, not hours. And the voles make blocks pretty quickly since they are what remake the blocks on the surface.
