Mourning
I created a tombstone for a dead duplicate. Now and then when people are passing by, they stop and cry. This shows up as a sink for their morale. Is there a positive side effect to making a tombstone? I don't see anything in game when searching for mourning.

It is saying they get +20% stress while mourning. Seems kinda high? I am not sure I have a great perspective of morale sinks/gains since I am new. Is this better than say... dumping the dead body in a pool of polluted water?

I think the upside is disease and decor related mostly- there's not an effect on stress afaik
Only had limited chance to explore it, but doesn't that memorial help remove the mourning? It seemed to me my dupes were moping about quite a while after I lost one until I realized the debuff. Building the memorial then removed the mourning after each dupe went there once (I think).

You might be right. I noticed it right after placing it. Then afdter a while it got in my way of building something, so I removed it, then the dead body was gone. I will have to investigate further.

I removed auto save because I kept on loading when my duplicates died, so I will probably have a few of dead duplicates here and there from now on.

There is no morale buff in the base game.
It looks like you've installed this mod.

I don't use any mods
if you don't build tombstones the dead dupes haunt all of the menus in your game and crash it eventually...

it's really kinda a lame reason to build them... but you can just de-construct them now so build them, have them deleate the dead dupes from memory, then remove them I guess?

I was wondering if that was actually intended or a bug lol. It's a weird way to remove them.

I'm still not sure if it's a bug or not... I think it is but it's been like that since early access and klei seems uninterested in fixing it so it must be a "feature".
hey at least the hatches arnt eating sleeping dupes anymore and the bodies would stay where they where and you couldnt move them leaving a huge debuff in a working area. making tombstones to move them out of the way is logical putting a graveyard right next to your living area and complaining about the results is less logical.
