Need help with steam vent / steam turbine setup
i'm trying to get a steam vent tamer that i saw online working. and the error i'm getting doesn't make any sense.
1) steam is over 700 ºF
(screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/298j5zhll3a7egxrh4w5j/Screenshot-2025-02-11-at-9.56.40-PM.png?rlkey=x653ac2t7wsfi8dh09u8wq7pt&st=qiujadgm&dl=0 )

2) but my steam turbines seem to believe the steam is below 257 ºF
(screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/e1zb0id1u4j1mmyoxekuf/Screenshot-2025-02-11-at-9.56.47-PM.png?rlkey=tod12lfr8pqu3yyi8xa3n4otd&st=dzm7yhk4&dl=0 )

3) and because the steam turbines don't seem to recognize the steam, my vent is now over pressure (screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/8dt8dcq6kg6tce7kmo73a/Screenshot-2025-02-11-at-9.57.16-PM.png?rlkey=r4b5q7791sb3612s4u9n7irkt&st=gvp0644i&dl=0 )

so what am i missing here?

There are two types of Steam Vent, the red vent that output 500 degree Celsius and the blue one named "Cool Steam Vent" that output only at 110 degree Celsius.

Edit: By the way I somehow can't access the images.

yeah. this is not the cool steam vent. i have two of the cool steam vents also on this map.. this is the regular steam vent... emitting steam at 932ºF (which... in my calculations, 932 is MORE than 250 ... unless new math is like opposite day)

and i have no idea why dropbox isn't working. here's the screenshots on google drive.

Looks like you have a layer of oxygen just above the steam.

ok... so i'm confused as to why oxygen would cause.... this. and how do i remedy that then? like... wouldn't the oxygen just... become... steam? (or at the very least... be the same temperature as the steam)

this game makes my brain hurt

Gases don't mix in this game. There is one element per tile rule. So all could happen is gases can move to different levels, but they actually already did - oxygen is lighter than steam so it settles above it.

How oxygen could become steam I have no idea what is your logic here - this doesn't happen im real life too. You can burn hydrogen and it will join with oxygen to create water and possibly steam. However in this game there is no combustion simulation.

And about getting rid of the oxygen layer - create liquid lock, using oil or petroleum, to allow dupes enter steam chamber. Build one by one insulated tiles under turbine inlets to compres oxygen and when final tile is placed it should delete compressed oxygen, because it will have nowhere to go. Deconstruct the tiles and clear debris to avoid losing heat.

awesome. thanks!
idk if it's still a thing, but steam vents used to produce a small amount of oxygen that would mess up turbines over time.

I never had a huge issue with is because I used a door regulator system under my turbines to control their output and there were major issues with gas deletion that dealt with it... idk if that was fixed either.
