Will repost this here:
"This means that the antivirus program that you are running can’t recognize the file, so it labels it as a virus by default"

So most likely a false warning, unless more people have it and we get more then a generic "I dont know what this file does".

Funny coincidence. After the update, everyone's FPS dropped. And at the same time a virus was detected. It's just a coincidence.

Sure, a virus that takes as much resources as the game it self, if not more, yet only shows up to you, so far.

After you find out that it's not a virus, I hope you learn from this experience.

It showed up for me too, so i rushed here. My antivirus has moved it to a quarantine, any suggestions?
fluxtorrent Jul 16, 2021 @ 2:28pm
Its a false positive. My suggestion, get a better AV software

Yeah move it to the IC! (just restore it within your AV program)

If your antivirus program can't detect corona... then remove the damn spyware(AV program) and resource eater(AV program) so all of you, will also stop complaining about poor performance and low fps.

Damn that's a platinum tip!

Your welcome!

Yep that seems to be the case.
I scanned with 3 different anti viruses that i have (Avira , Malwarebytes , Windows Defender) all definitions up to date , found absolutely nothing suspicious in ONI or Steam folder.
Matrocks Jul 16, 2021 @ 9:59pm
even if its a false warning ,how can steam allow such issue from happening ?

How do you expect them to prevent garbage AV from making mistakes?

Valve scans all files for malware, and never in history has ANYTHING been distributed that contained them. Even the people freaking out about "miners" were proven wrong.

Avast Antivirus think and say
OxygenNotIncluded.exe = IDP.Generic
but virustotal and metadefender site > check is clean
exe is no problem

i think AV is false positive

UPDATE 31/7/18: Last night, Valve pulled the game Abstractism from the Steam store. In a statement to Kotaku, Valve explained it had "removed Abstractism and banned its developer from Steam for shipping unauthorised code, trolling, and scamming customers with deceptive in-game items".

Nice Try Gabe

p.s removed the game the moment Klei announced being sold to tencent, i'm not surprised about ONI / DS / DST containing any possible viruses

Thats pointless, as Tencent owns 40% of Epic games. As in the company that makes the Unreal Engine. So good luck avoiding anything to do with Tencent.

The keyword here is "Generic" which is a term that is used for "suspicious code" by heuristic algorithms. At anytime if a file or system contains a virus/trojan/whatever then it is specifically named.
