Smile and Wheezewort Radiation
I have been avoiding slime for 250 cycles as all guides about it so complicated and scary.
Some were suggesting a complicated way to cool slime with metal in order to kill gems with low temperature. I decided to try cool it with Wheezeworm and all gems died from Radiation in few seconds.

Am I missing something? Why guides about smile so complicated if all I need is one Wheezewort?

Radiation is new, and it is the best way to kill germs now, I think. Oh yeah another way for cleaning the air is to use plants that give off floral scent. it works really well.

Can not tell you why the guides about slime are so complicated, except if they were all made from in the very brief period where slime lung was hard to kill and dangerous. Now you just need to plop down a few deodisers and leave the room alone until the polluted oxygen is gone in vanilla or in the DLC just use radiation to make all of the easy germs trivial.

Just ignore the slime and germs?
Dump the germy slime in water and forget about it. Germs are not deadly, actually pretty harmless and your dupes will recover usually really fast.
Just seal up the polluted water pool, clean the oxygen (if you want) and keep on digging.

On top of everything that was previously mentioned, you can also use the oxygen masks or atmo suits.
Of course there's always the option of digging around the slime tiles.

I am playing base game so no radiation. I agree slimelung can be ignored.
However now I'm using the increased diseases, it really changes your game. You actually need to use medical stuff. You all should try it.
For example now slimelung generates two more diseases and is fairly lethal and needs to be avoidided or dealt with. Have a few key dupes die and you'll want to deal with slimelung. You really need to understand slimelung to deal with it.
It spreads very well through po2, but doesn't spread and slowly dies in o2 co2 etc. Deodorizers slow it but do not stop it. It will creep into your base so you have to be proactive. You'd like to avoid contaiminating new sources of ph20, at all cost. Cleanup is to pump slimeair into tanks in chlorine. Along the way of clearing slime, you will need as mentioned probiotics (helpful germs). Planting buddy buds is very helpful. That plant has gone from stupid and a waste of resources to perhaps as valuable as the most important things, imo. I consider worts ferns and buddy to be the most valuable things, I guess that's because they cannot be produced. What do other people consider most valuable?

How was buddy buds a waste of resource? A glass/diamond hanging pod is not that expensive and you can have the -stress buff on critical areas. If you play with higher stress, it's pretty noticeable.

For low germ count you can use depleted uranium metal tiles. I have some in my water and it's enough to keep it sterile. If new germy water comes in and runs over the metal tiles, it takes a few seconds to get disinfected. For slimelung pouring some radioactive waste could help if the area is not too big.

I don't really deem any of the limited resource things too valuable (except wolframite, which is not always limited). Buddy buds are nice to the stress relieve, but ~2 of them are usually enough and technically bristle blossoms can fill in a bit. The next patch will likely also add a critter that disinfects water. They just changed it again, so it's not super clear how that will turn out.

Well, I only played one game where I got glass (from leaving sand on a volcano) and I never had diamond.
How do I get higher stress? Because I'd like to have to deal with that more.
When I was playing vanilla base, stress can be ignored, some good food seems to pop them over.
I turned on the DecorReimagined and now I'm having stress difficulties but wouldn't mind more so there's actually a reason to build some decor. I've never had to build decor, or bedroom, or shower or anything to relive stress, the morale is always so high.

I also had natural gas so I had surfnturf and maybe that helped. This run seems to be very difficult - no gas, no metal volcano yet. Just slush and hot polluted o2 and cool steam, seems challenging to me, I'm trying to find more vents but slimelung epidemic is slowing me down.

There is a stress difficulty setting. Max is they are always under +20%, meaning maxing out the morale stress relieve at -20% will bring them to +/-0%. Every puddle stepped into, ever popped eardrum etc. will just accumulate stress then. The buddy bud buff becomes pretty strong then and the minor chit chat stuff has a meaning then.

Decor, bedroom and most other things mostly just stack morale, but you can't get more than -20% stress from morale. Apart from the soul food buff, food also just stacks up morale.
