No idea why they did not add low-high automation like they've added for every other storage (gas, liquid, solid, power), but they remade a lot of mistakes from the past with the DLC and it felt like they started all over with their design process. They are currently doing quality focused patching on the test branch, so we might see more. It feels pretty ridiculous still that you have to use mutli stage automation to use the materials research, which you have to use a lot and quite early in the DLC. Also pretty confused that there is no mod for this yet (that I know of).
