Gask Mask Question // Spaced Out
Just a quick question since I can't seem to figure this out. Are Gas Masks a 1 time use? The Dupes drop them at the gas station when they are done and they seem to disappear after a period of time, I assume when the oxygen is gone out of it. Is the oxygen wasted or is it put back out into the air?

If I assign a dupe to wear one then they wear it constantly which I don't want.

Thanks to anyone who responds.

mask itself is 1 time use, but after that a dupe need to refill it with some metal, and the station needs air (the bar on the left of the machine)

As they currently stand, I dont bother at all with the mask station and the masks.

Yeah I'm thinking the same thing myself, the masks should be reusable but it's kind of a waste of oxygen and metal if a Dupe uses it for litterally 1 task.

Another useless thing like the sweepy. you build it once, then never again. I really wish for a better cooling solution for earlygame, that would be nice. But no, we get this crap.
Had another base abandonment, because of the two open steam vents nearby.

The gas masks are EA. Many things in the base game were balanced multiple times before release. There is no reason to think gas mask balance is final.

Also early game has ice as a cooling method. It can't get much easier.

Restarting at circle 100 is faster then this "cooling method".

dig up to surface, mine ice, make ice sculptures in base.

or... dig up to near surface. make continuous air loop to dump heat in surface area and bring cooled air back down.

Even with debug speed this is false. If you need massive impact because it's an emergency you can build a tempshift plate out of the ice. You will lose a lot of its cooling potential but you will get the cold a lot faster.

Otherwise just place it on the floor, preferably in some liquid which transfers heat quicker than gas, but just placing it on the floor works for your farm. Don't place it on an insulated tile, place it on a regular tile, or even better a metal tile. If you want to get even fancier you can put it on conveyor rails, but that is more late game.
