Frosty - Where's the challenge?
Cold just slows down the dupes, doesn't seem any danger of actual hypothermia.
Germs are not a problem because cold kills them.
Air is not a problem (yet) because there is oxylite freaking everywhere.
Food is plentiful and doesn't spoil because of the cold.
Water is plentiful because you just melt ice.
Build a flox stable for wood, and you are done.

It's cycle 40 and I'm bored.

PS Bammoths sound like wolves in DST and it keeps freaking me out!

I'm on cycle 15 of my first Frosty game. Air and food are trivial so far, sure.

However, building things which cannot be made out of wood, ice, or cinnabar ore is a challenge. Basically, I need to be able to mine abysallite to break out of the starting biome before I can build pipes, a refrigerator or even a water cooler for the great hall.

The challenge will come when wood heaters will start melting away your snow tiles cuz you forgot to replace them once you've obtained materials for regular tiles. Now my base is covered in water which refuses to turn into ice

This is still Oxygen Not Included. If you have over 1000 hours, then the early game should be trivial.

Also, if you've been playing for so long then it's assumed that you've figured out ways to challenge yourself. Otherwise, why are you still playing?

If you know how to play then there's no challenge.
True!

Anyways just treat it like factorio.
Most of the production chains I've gotten to (alveo, flox, spigot seals) were fun.

I got over 1000 hours with ONI and Frosty got some challenge dealing with the cold. Fun for me.
I picked a new game on Ceres Minor (CER-C-858207673-0-D3-0):
- Frozen core
- Large Glaciers
- Small Boulders
- Crashed Satellites

Dealing with the cold and food is not too bad but getting oxygen production going was difficult. Damn water keep freezing before getting into my Electrolyzer :)

Anyway I almost lost the colony when I got lower than 100g of oxygen: plants stopped growing and dupe keep looking for oxygen to breath. Now that I got some oxygen for the dupe I'm looking for ways to generate electricity in a renewal way and that seems to be an other challenge but I did not fully explore the map yet, will see...

Worth my money for sure.

I just built a metal refinery and used the heat to warm up an insulated base and melt tons of water for air and hydrogen. Takes some time to research, and you need to prep your base for warming and food production. With refined metal, I can make space suits.

So far the DLC is pretty fun. There's some interesting transitions that you need to manage, such as when your base warms. I'm a veteran player and have lots to explore with all the new animals and materials.

the challenge is that it ruined spaced out

the last game I still played and liked, ruined by DLC and monetization like everything else

I'm very much against monetization in games, but this DLC was very affordable (a cup of starbucks coffee), and with lots of content. I hope the developers continue with more paid DLCs and I'm hoping this business model is successful for them for continued development. If we want more content, the money has to come from somewhere. DLCs or kickstarter are my preferred "raising money" methods.

Wait what? How is this singular map DLC ruined Spaced Out for you?

These developers are good indeed, they make high quality videos and post it on YT as an announcement of new major content, whether its for DLC, or main game. Tell me how many developers actually do that

I hope ONI gets more content in the future indeed

Jesus christ, you pay 8 euros for a cup of coffee? I truly am the "europoor" apparently, because that seems insane to me :D

First, you get a 25% discount if you buy is as part of a bundle if you own the main game, and secondly, main it was regional pricing or something

$8 USD for a starbucks frappuccino with a couple extra pumps, ya, that's what they cost. Their "normal coffee," like a trenta cold brew with no extras, is closer to $6 USD, which is what the DLC cost. That's if you go in and pick it up at the store. My niece is addicted to the stuff and regularly orders it through door dash or whatever paying a few extra bucks on top of that.

So ya, $6 for a DLC for ONI, or $10 to have a cup of starbucks coffee delivered. Kind of an eye opening comparison.

Damn. I feel poor just reading that. I thought the DLC was fairly priced, but to some of you it must feel like it's essentially free^^ All the better, more money for Klei hopefully translates into more content for ONI.
