New DLC thoughts
I am very disappointed with the new DLC Dont get me wrong i love the game but a DLC based on a new asteroid and a couple more critters and critters being affected more by temperature does not warrant me paying for this DLC.

I was hoping an expansion would improve on existing gameplay in the sense that you could maybe upgrade existing machines and more research trees etc.

Maybe add a drivable rover, a boring machine that dupes can sit in to bore and other machines etc. They are so many possibilities.

Anybody remember the huge mod for factorio?

That was free and added a huge amount of new gameplay. This dlc is mostly looking at new stuff rather than being able to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.

I am sorry guys I don't think you have put enough into the DLC.

Nearly all you put in could have been added by mods. FREE

I won't be buying just to have another asteroid and a couple more critters unless its around a fiver as it takes me a bit of sorting out which of my mods will
Work with it.

Klei needs to add to core gameplay. Not add another asteroid and leave the same old gameplay.

Oh and please add better zoom out so mod not needed.

I think when the critics write about this dlc it will give you negative feedback which could affect your good reputation.

Can't say I disagree with you. But as someone looking to get back into the game this DLC, if reasonable priced for the content, would do that.

It's a small DLC, as long as the price is right I don't think a small package matters.

Give them time, I'm sure we'll get bigger things in the future.

I'm still gonna buy it lol

There is not a single mod that would offer a whole pack of new things for a different way of playthrough from the usual one, tied together by a thematic story. Wooden tiles and cozy skins are much superior in quality to similar decor from mods. Plants and animals have long needed a greater variety of climates, while mods cover the already widely provided ranges. World generation finally has a unique impact on gameplay, as opposed to mods encouraging avoidance from the original extremes.

Personally, I don't have many environment mods that I want to play with, since there are few of them, and the ones that exist ruin the immersion by creating eggs or seeds, making absurd characteristics of entities, or being a variations of an existing.
Meh, just be glad that the devs are still supporting the game. Are people serious that broke that they need to complain about a 5-10-15$ DLC?

You pay that much for a candy bar or bag of chips and ♥♥♥♥ it out the next day. Like...you serious dude?

yeah the amount of content is a let down really. no new mechanics, only a few critters, plants and liquids. After 100-200 cycles the game plays exactly as before. The new additions also don't add much to the game. The game is good as is but this dlc is just meh

The pricing is going to be the key factor since this doesn't look like a must-have DLC.

Yeah, I would prefer an upgrade to the gameplay as well over just different "colors" of the same stuff. I'd rather some new mechanics than a new biome.

I would honestly love to get a DLC where combat, defending against alien invasions, etc. became a thing.

Yeah.. Personally I had hoped for some serious effort into making performance improvements and like OP, some of the things he mentiones..

I don't feel at all exited about this DLC... I assume from what I'm seeing they are adding (a fefw critters and some mechanics) that this will be like a $15 DLC which at this price I might still get.. Anything above is a 100% no-go

We already have frozen asteroids.... Also it seems this update will brake a LOT of mods potentially... Major reason for me to not get it.

Tbh everything cool added to ONI has been done with some awesome free mods.. A lot of them of very high quality. I don't see where any of the DLC offers any value for money.

Also note that the gameplay changes around temperature for critters and duplicants will be coming to all versions whether you get the DLC or not.

On the other hand, Klei have said that there is more content in the DLC than is in the Beta which won't be available until release. There's already some POIs in worldgen that are under construction and not implemented yet. For example, the Research Portal does hint at a (small) expansion to the research tree.

As others have mentioned, the DLC will sink or swim on content vs pricing. Klei have said that they are aware that Frosty Planet Pack has significantly smaller scope than Spaced Out, and that it will be at a lower price. How much content is in the final release and how much it will cost remains to be seen.

It's not going to be $15. Spaced Out is $13. This is going to be like $5-6. It's just a small addon, not an expansion. It looks like they will be doing "Planet Packs" for some period of time, there will probably be a few more of these released at a faster pace.

They said they were done with expansions/DLC before, so I'd say I'm just happy to get anything. I'm glad they changed their minds, and maybe there will be a big expansion in the future.

Bleh, not me. I don't like combat in my simulation games. I love Factorio, but I hate the fighting. I know you can turn it off but then most of the research has no point.

Yeah totally agree.. If I want combat focussed I would play something like factorio or the likes....

There is more than enough to handle and do in ONI to have a good game without any silly combat mechanics..
i dont disagree with you but i had same sentiment when they were selling space DLC

but with time , space DLC offered way more way way more to warrant it existance , i personaly hope it will be same with this DLC
