DLC Domesticating Bonbon Gourd and Snow
Been trying to domesticate the bonbon gourd to feed the new spigot critter but constantly running out of snow. Has anyone seen a way around this besides just digging out more all the time? Really wish we could at least crush ice into snow with the rock crusher.

No one on the internet anywhere ever I can find has said this. You singlehandedly saved my seals

the ice maker make only 60kg (i think) of snow per use and the trees require 100kg per cycle. They also user a stupid amount of power to run. Something needs to change here as trying to run 2x seal ranches is very difficult.

The only meteor type on ceres is "icy nectar" which is mostly snow, and contains a lot of bonbons that auto-plant themselves. Wild bonbons produce the same amount of nectar as domesticated ones. There are a few things you can do with that information.

Actually they produce 25% less than domesticated meaning they will take longer to produce nectar than domesticated ones, if I remember correctly I could be wrong

The lifecycle is a lot faster if domesticated. The lifecycle only controls how quickly the tree grows and creates branches though. The nectar is a separate mechanic that is only based on light level the branches are getting, so once the tree is fully grown you can pump nectar out at the same rate whether it's wild or domesticated. At least this was the case earlier, and I don't see any changes to the description of nectar generation to imply it was nerfed at all in any recent patches.

The idea is basically to take advantage of the free wild surface spawns of the trees and natural sunlight. You can just run a pipe through them and pump the nectar for plastic, or figure out how to control where the trees are planted to create seal ranches feeding on those wild trees.
