Trouble With Thimble Reeds
I don't know why, but I always have trouble farming thimble reeds. In this colony, I'm mostly harvesting wild reeds, but I set up some hydroponic tiles to handle excess water from my bathrooms.
The pipes are feeding into the hydroponic tiles and the tiles are showing that there's 10kg of polluted water in each tile, but three of my four thimble reeds are saying "growth halted (irrigation stored)". I have enough wild reed and I'm ranching some dreckos, so I don't really need the reed fiber, I just need to prevent a closed-loop bathroom from getting backed up.

Check that the hydroponic tiles themselves only have polluted water. If you were using them for bristle blossoms or didn't have a good pipe layout they may be still holding water which stops the tiles from receiving any other liquids and that stops the reeds from working. If that's the case, save and load or click the tiles then hit "empty storage"

Also, liquid flow in ONI can be extremely fiddly. One way to *ensure* that it only goes INTO the hydro tiles is to put a liquid bridge just before the tiles, pointing into the tiles. That will guarantee that the flow direction of liquid is from source -> tiles. Also, ideally do not take the fluid further beyond the tiles (ie, don't have flow-through beyond the tiles). It's fine to connect the tiles to one-another to make sure they share liquid, but don't let liquid flow through the tiles and onwards to something else. That can, in some cases, lead to the flow being confused about direction and mess up.

If you absolutely must, just put a bridge on the outflow as well to ensure the game understands the direction you want liquid to flow.

Finally: Be aware the Thimble Reeds drink *copious* amounts of p-water. Make sure you actually have enough liquid to feed them.

10KG polluted water ain't enough for 1 plant let alone more of them. The waste water from toilets/sinks ain't enough to feed 1 plant. So you need more Pwater.

If all the thimble reeds were up all the time then you'd be producing too much polluted water for them to consume. What you're seeing is normal for getting rid of excess waste water.

That was it. I accidentally fed clean water into them before changing my pipe layout. Thank you.
