If you're using debug anyway just use InstantBuild mode. First, it removes the need for resources, second dupes don't need to build and third, if you dig with InstantBuild active it immediately just drops the resources without needing a dupe to dig it out. What I've done in debug is dig a big room, add a door, fill the room using the fill tool (make sure to set the density really high to maximize the amount you get) then dig it out with InstantBuild. No dupes even needed.
Regarding spawning debris - there is no easier method than the one Bokonon mentioned.
(in my case i wanted to find out if i could make my metal refinery power positive but needed dupes to run it and couldnt figure out how to get lime debris. but then i looked at the debug tools you get on every interacable. and theres an option to spawn solid resources for a relevent recipe or converions. which basically spawns what you need. by selecting steel and clicking the button it gave me what i needed to make it. Hope this helps if not feel free to remove it for necro.
Just wanted to say thanks for pointing this out! I am just getting into this game (about 150 hours in) and this helps!
