manual radbolt generator, generates 4,9 instead of 5?!
I am using manual radbolt generator to, not surprise, generate radbolts. Since this is manual work I just wanted to generate enough radbolts to finish one research but somehow the amounts don't add up and when looking at the details I saw 4.9 radbolts in the material study terminal.
Each manual radbolt generation creates 5 radbolts. So I would expect a nice integer numbers like 5, 10, 15... but not 4.9. So I gave another order to generate 5 more radbolts and the radbolts in the study terminal changed from 4.9 to 9.8.

Any ideas why there are strange numbers instead of clean multiples of 5?
I know sometimes ONI screws numbers and instead of eg 3 seeds I have 2.977234327 seeds. Those screwed numbers usually have lots of digits behind the decimal point in contrast to radbolts that have exact one digits behind the point.

After generating radbolts one more time the number changed from 9.8 to 14.7.
Eventually the research was finished and there is exactly one radbolt left in the study terminal. So somehow the factures were rounded up to 1 after the research?!
Which also does not add up since rounding up would be multiples of 5 again,

So generating radbolts once more and instead of having 5.9 or 6 radbolts in the study terminal it was 0.
I reloaded the last save, checked if there is still 1 radbolt in the study terminal, generated some more radbolts and the number changed from 1 to 5.9 and then 10.8

This seems to be a bug?

Radbolts are consumed when flying through the air at a rate of like 0.1 per tile traveled.
When using a powered radbolt generator, you have the buildings releasing a slightly higher amount so that 0.9 to 0.1 flies past an input

ah, ok, since the generator and the study terminal are right next to each other the -0.1 makes somehow sense. Thanks for explaining.

What I don't understand is how the study terminal is consuming radbolts.
I just had 30.4 radbolts in the study terminal and my dupe converted them to 3 research point with 0 left in the terminal. So 0.4 radbolts disappeared?!

Just wanted to add that it's not really -0.1 per tile, but loss mostly depends on the amount of mass/pressure the radbolt has to go through plus a little bit for distance.

As for the study terminal, I've seen that too. It should be 10 bolts per research point, but here and there some fractions seem to go lost. (But maybe consumption is influenced by efficiency boni like light or being in a lab)

Radbolts lose 0.1 per tile traveled, regardless of whether they're traveling through a vacuum or through a literal ton of gas.

Consumption is not influenced by efficiency. Efficiency only affects work speed.

Partial research points are stored in the material studies terminal. They are not lost.

Huh, I could have sworn it was affected by mass, but then you are both probably right.
Will have to check that again. Sorry for any misinformation.

0.4 radbolts were turned into an insignificant portion (4%!) of the building's progress bar, they'll only disappear if you destroy the building.

Yes, you are right I just did a test that confirms it.

It needs a multiple of 10 radbolts for a dupe to start research but once started it can use even fractions of radbolts
