Can I decrease spoil time on mush bars if kept in carbon dioxide at room temperature ?

If kept in standard O2 or natural gas, they decay at a normal 'atmospheric rate.'

If kept in polluted O2 and possibly some other 'non-naturally' spawning gases (such as those made by heating other 'elements' to their boiling point) then they have an accelerated decay rate. This is the polluted atmosphere debuff.

If kept in chlorine (Cl2), carbon dioxide (CO2), or hydrogen gas (H2), then they have a reduced decay rate. This is the sterile atmosphere buff. A vacuum also counts as sterile atmosphere.

If kept at room temperature, they will decay at a normal rate, if kept slightly cooler (below 8C usually with some exceptions), then they decay slower (refrigerated), and kept below -18C they have the lowest heat related decay rate (deep freeze). This check is performed on the atmosphere the food is kept in, as well as the food, and the best buff is applied.

Combining the atmosphere type with temperature, it is possible to prevent all decay with sterile atmosphere and deep freeze buffs. It is possible to cool an atmosphere down to sub-zero atmospheres to get the deep freeze buff while the food is still warm, with gradual cooling of the food (and consequent heating of the atmosphere, so a cooling system is (usually) required).

Bars are best served to the most disappointing dupes, give your hardest workers(most stressed) some good grub. }:)

In all honesty as long as you have some food that'll last having a little rot is fine; you can feed it to pokes for a little sand, sage hatches if needing spare coal or compost it back into regular dirt to turn into bars again.
Just try to get toilets up so you gotta source of renewable water, and for the love of all that is good de-germ your water... some players are just cruel.
(Like saying hydra's or liquid locks are cheating but hooking water sieve from toilets back into sinks an handwaving the fact the dupes wash their hands with germy water, hypocrites.)
