like water can go to 99c before it turns into steam, so any gas stored below that temp is ok.
=I'M USING OIL FOR WHATEVER, THO........... BC OF SLICKSTERS POOPED ENOUGH, HEHE
=BUT!!!!!!!......... AT PRACTICAL MEASURE, ANY LIQUID WILL GO, JUST MAKE SURE THAT IT'LL STAY LIQUID AT THE TEMPERATURE AND NOT A POLLUTED WATER!!!!!!!!
............... LIKE, YOUR GAS WILL BE AT -40C????THEN ONLY ETHANOL, IF ABOVE 100C THEN ONLY OIL................. AND AT RANGE BETWEEN...... ALMOST ANYTHING WILL DO...... U'VE GOTTEN THE IDEA, RIGHT?????JUST LOOK AT PROPERTIES ABOUT FREEZING AND BOILING POINT...................
............. AND!!!!!!!!!!......... FOR LIQUID LOCKS !!!!!!!!!........... ONLY CRUDE OIL OR ETHANOL, BC OF CRUDE OIL IS MORE FORGIVING
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3045059496
=IT'S A VERY SIMILAR, THOUGH...........
=U SEE, VACUUM DOESNT CONDUCT HEAT, SOOOOOO IF U'LL MAKE A KIND OF LADDER, ABOUT BETWEEN PLACES THAT 2 TILES TALL............ U'LL CREATE PLACE WHERE ONLY 1 TILE, AND IF U'LL PLACE A DROPLET OF LIQUID THERE, IT'LL STOP GASES FROM FLOWING...........
=SO KIND OF ................ I'M MAKING A VACUUM AT SOME PLACE WHERE A SPECIAL KIND OF GAS MUST'VE BE, WITH GAS PUMPS,........... LIKE I'M BUILDING AN OUTER LAYER OF OBSTACLES, MAKING A FIRST LIQUID LOCK THERE, THEN TAKING AWAY GAS FROM DESIRED AREA............... AND BUILDING ATMO SUIT DOCK/CHECKPOIT!!!!!BC OF DUPES WILL BREAK VACUUM!!!!!!BY EXHALING CARBON DIOXIDE WHEREVER THEY WANT......... THEY'VE BROKEN LOTS OF MY PLACES WITH VACUUM DURING CONSTRUCTION, THOUGH........... SOOOOO, JUST ANOTHER LIQUID LOCK AND OKKKK THAT'LL DO, SO IF THE AREA WILL NEED SOME MAINTANANCE IT'S VERY POSSIBLE AND DOESNT CONSUME MUCH OF ADDITIONAL PLACE
=OK, THAT WAS ABOUT ANOTHER APPLICATION OF LIQUIDS BY UNUSUAL WAY, THO
=SO.............. LIKE.......... HOW I'M MAKING SCREEN SHOTS.........
=ABOUT I'VE LEARNED TO OPEN THIS...........
https://steamcommunity.com/id/robotnikkkk/screenshots/?appid=457140#scrollTop=42
(APPID IS OXYGEN NOT INCLUDED ID AT STEAM,AND OPTION ABOUT HOW TO REPRESENT FROM THE OPTIONS SO DONT PAY ATTENTION TOO MUCH)
=I'M OPENING IT IN BROWSER.............. THEN I'M UPLOADING , AND THEN REFRESH PAGE IN BROWSER ABOUT WHEN IT SHOULD VE BEEN EXPECTED TO APPEAR, THEN CLICKING ON IMAGE, AND COPYING THE LINK......................
=AND YEAH, I'M PRETTY MUCH UNSATISFIED ABOUT THESE LINKS ARENT COMPATIBLE WITH STEAM ITSELF AND IT USING ANOTHER FORMAT.............
=AND NOBODY DID EXPLAIN ANY OF THAT TO U, THOUGH?????
------------------------------
=DAMN MY BAD DIDNT READ CAREFUL ENOUGH................ THAT'S FROM REDDIT...........
=OK THEN NVM, I GUESS I REMEMBER ABOUT DUDE TRIED TO UPLOAD THING AND IT WAS AT STEAM FORMAT FROM OVERLAY TOOL
For the depicted gas storage it is best to have a non wall tile right next to the vent, that is occupied by the same liquid that also submerges the vent.
The reason is that building it like in the reddit screenshot can lead to the deletion of the occupying liquid. If that happens the build breaks down and won't work anymore.
Having a free, occupied by same liquid tile right next to the vent will prevent any such issues.
It'll work as follows:
The vent will spawn a gas tile in the vents cell which in turn tries to displace the liquid in that cell.
If the liquid can't go anywhere, then the gas and liquid can annihilate each other until one of them is gone.
If there is a tile with the same liquid present next to the vent, the liquid will simply merge with that tile.
Next tick (0.2s later, long before the next gas tile is spawned 1s later) the liquid next to the vent will flow back onto the vent thus pushing up the gas occupying that cell (only if the cell above is the same element as the gas or vacuum, therefore this kind of infinite storage only works with a single kind of gas and can break if multiple gases are present.
Screenshot how it may look like in practice:

The part you are looking for is the oil submerged vent in the squeaky puft stable (the green ones).

There is another type of infinite gas storage that may be useful:

This works with a door pump and teleportation shenenigans.
The door is opened and closed at regular intervals via the timer above it.
The upper cell of the door (actually the right one in this picture) will close a tick after the lower (left) cell of the door, thus trapping some gas in that cell.
When the upper (right) doorcell finally closes, the trapped gas is displaced but has nowhere to go. In such a case the gas usually is deleted.
Unless there is a liquid right next to the displaced gas and the cell above that liquid is occupied by the same element as the to be displaced gas. In that special case the gas will simply be merged into the cell above the liquid.
The liquid drop will then prevent the gas from flowing back, thus turning the chamber above it into an infinite gas storage.
When the door opens again, fresh gas can flow into both door cells and the cycle begins anew.
You absolutely need to make sure, though, that the storage chamber is never completely drained (turned into vacuum), as that would break the build. The storage chamber always needs to retain some of its' stored gas. That's why the pump is controlled by an atmo sensor, which will shut the pump down if pressure sinks below a minimum value.
This build, too, can only be used with a single gas, though.
But it is very useful when used with gas vents and other scenarios, where there is only a single gas present.
The advantage of such a built is that it doesn't need to use any power (or just very little, in case the door is powered) to store the gas.
(The depicted version, taming a natural gas vent, needs a steel pump and oil/petrol as liquid, as temperatures will eventually rise to 150℃).
=YESSSS THAT'S A STRAIGHTFORWARD OVERCOMPLICATING, THO
=BUT I ADMIT THAT THERE'S A SAVING OF ENERGY INDEED WHICH IS SPENT ONLY FOR CLOSING THE DOOR, HEHE
=BUT............. THESE TYPES THAT I'M USING......... ARE THE MOST RELIABLE AND EASY TO BUILD EVEN AT AFK MODE, ISNT THAT????
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3045271846
=JUST LOOKED EXACTLY AT SCREENSHOT........................... I'D NEVER DARE TO BUILD SUCH A ILLOGICAL THING, THOUGH
............ SEE, MY NOOBISH DESIGN HANDLES THE LOAD PRETTY MUCH WELL, ISNT THAT??
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3045274946
......... YESS, IT'S LIKE MY SECOND SUCCESSFUL BUILD, HEHE............ SO I HOPE THAT THAT VENT WILL NEVER BE RELIEVED FROM OVERPRESSURE, HEHEHEHE
=I'M GOING BY PHYLOSOPHY "IF SOMETHING DOES WORK WELL, STAY WITH IT AND DO SOMEWHAT ELSE
=WELL, AT LEAST THE COLONY STILL ALIVE AND DOING WELL, HEHEHEHE
And the mechanics used here are applicable in various ways (you really ought to read through that 'Compendium of Amazing Designs').
For example it is what makes all hybrid electrolyzers and at least half of the hydra designs you see floating around work.
I'm not 100% sure, but having vents next to each other might still delete some oil, if unlucky.
Though maybe not.
The liquid storage is fine, I guess.
The normal way to build one is based on a gas based liquid pump.

There are two different gases trapped where the liquid flows over the edge.
The liquid gets transformed into a droplet and only reemerges at the bottom.
This is what is called a gas based liquid pump.
The two gases cannot move away and it's two gases, so they cannot merge into a single tile.
This will trap the liquid in the bottom section without any pressure limits.
(Another use case is, for example, to pump liquids upwards without a pump or pipes. This can be used to create infinitely flowing waterfalls, among other things.)
If adapted to work with a liquid vent it can also look like this (the single gas version should be fine too, though):

In both cases, the doors and airflow tiles are there to prevent damaging walls due to overpressure.
In case of the airflow tiles because there is a gas between liquid and wall.
In case of the doors because doors cannot be damaged by pressure (can use bunker tiles instead).
The airflow tiles have a double use, in that gases in the storage chamber have somewhere to go, if you don't manage to build this in a vacuum or prefill the storage chamber with liquid.
The single gas version of the vent storage works, because the liquid will leave the vent in droplet form.
=NOPE, IT'S JUST BEEN PUSHED AWAY AND RETURN TO THE PLACE
=AND I KNOW WHAT U RE ABOUT, I'VE TRIED 1 OF FIRST DEGIGNS AND IT WENT LIKE...... 1 TILE GAP AND AIRFLOW TILES, AND ALL THE LIQUID WENT AWAY
=AND THESE................ WORKING 100%, NO LIQUID LOSS........ LIKE FOR 3500 CYCLES, ONE OF..................
=AND IN ACTUAL EVEN 1 VENT IS ENOUGH BUT FOR MAKING SURE, THO
=OR FORWARDING 2 OUTPUTS.......... AT 1..............
=AND IF 4 ARE WORKING AT SAME TIME, THEN I DONT KNOW, BUT THEY'RE A BUFFER, SO 1 PIPE=1 STORAGE, ISNT THAT??
=I'VE GOTTEN THE PRINCIPLE FROM 1ST VIEW, THO
=WELL, EVENTUALLY THESE ARE GOING TO FAIL, THO.......... ...... BUT YEAH THE CONCEPT IS INTERESTING INDEED, HEHE........... BUT MOSTLY FOR SOME KIND OF A CHALLENGE, THO
............. THE PROBLEM IS ABOUT EQUILIBRIUM IS VERY HARD TO CALCULATE, SOOOO LIQUID WILL EVENTUALLY DAMAGE THESE LOWER TILES, AS WELL AS LIQUIDS ACTUALLY CAN DESTROY GASES.......... AT CERTAIN CONDITIONS........ SO THE THING ISNT RELIABLE AT 100%, MORE LIKE 99.9% RELIABLE
......................... AND ON DOOR VARIANT I'VE CAME UP WITH SOMETHING LIKE THIS, THO........... WHEN GOT TO CRAMP INTO NOT VERY TALL SPACE, HEHE
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3045323594
=BUT YEAH, USING AIRLOCKS CAN SAVE SOME SPACE, THAT'S TRUE, HEHE
