New to the game. Should I play classic mode first or space out?

If you play SO and choose a large asteroid then you get something close to classic anyway i.e. you can build a sustainable colony on just the starting asteroid.
Choosing to start on a smaller asteroid tends to be harder because of the need to manage two or more bases.

Thanks. That is what I want to know. TBH I'm not complete new. I played a few time before but always give up after 40-50 cycles because I can't manage all the different gas and pressure.

With a little bit of automation, handling gas pressure isn't hard. If you post here what you are struggling with, you'll find all the help you need.

If you play with DLC on, I'd go for "Spaced Out" map mode from the get go. The scattered colony is the selling point of it after all & while there's tedium and some idling while traveling between planetoids when it's fun it's quite enjoyable, really.
Nothing wrong with base game though. I'd say it even has better progression.

Spaced Out is like a sequel to Classic as far as lore goes. Classic ends when you get a Dupe to the Temporal Tear. The Spaced Out release trailer depicts what then went wrong. And the Spaced Out game picks up with the colony trying to get things right. So if you care about following the lore, you might want to do classic first.
