What to do with a Polluted Oxygen Vent?

The first and so far only vent I've found is a Polluted Oxygen vent that releases at 500 degrees. What is something clever that I can do with this? I'm still early game and just starting exploring outside the start biome.

You can seal it off to keep it out of your base for now. It's too hot to be worth putting it in your base so just make it go away.

In early game you should seal it, as mentioned. Later you could use it for clean oxygen or liquid polluted water. Polluted Oxygen Vents are in my opinion one of the worst vents tho. I barely actually used them and left them sealed for good. :)

These are for making clay. They produce enough heat to drive one Steam Turbine partially, but you won't get a useful surplus of power-- using a turbine does help cool things down, however.

Puft farm, they eat polluted O2 and poop slime. Infinite mushrooms, if you have an efficient rancher or two with exosuits. Brothgar set one up a while back, I think on a Badlands map.

even though po2 has low thermal mass it will eventually heat up the surrounding area if not vaccum gapped

That is only a concern if you keep removing the vent's output; otherwise it will stop after after pressure in the room hits 5kg/tile or whatever which is negligible compared to the 1000kg/tile of the surrounding rock.

That seems like a lot of effort compared to having pips plant a couple wild mushrooms. Which, in turn, seems like a lot of work compared to starvation ranching shove voles.

Klei really needs to balance this game instead of making ever more DLC.

Klei released the base game in early 2017. If someone isn't satisfied with how it is balanced by now, they probably never will be satisfied.
