How do i shear this bastard?

EDIT: 2 of my dupes have Ranching skills.

PS: I know it says unreachable but even when its on the floor or wrangled i can't do anything with either of these stations.

Doesn't matter if the critter is "unreachable". When a dupe uses the station, they'll call to the critter, and the critter will make its own way over to the station. (Though this may take some time.)

The room has to count as a "stable". Check the rooms layer (F11) to see requirements.

Dupes need the "critter ranching" skill (the same one required to wrangle) in order to use the stations. This skill only says it's necessary for the grooming station but I think it's needed for the shearing station too.

Stations obey the priority system. I normally set my dupes with ranching skills to have higher priority for ranching than for other tasks, so that they'll do that before other things. You can also change the priority of individual stations in the usual way.

Also, probably obvious, but dupes will need to be able to path to the stations. For example, if you had the permissions on that door set to not let anyone in, that would prevent the stations from being used.

Not directly relevant for using the stations, but note that if you want that drecko to survive long-term, you'll need to add some food to the room, and if you want it to regrow its coat after the first time you shear it, you'll need to add some hydrogen too. Drecko ranch design is actually pretty complicated.

(Wild critters can survive without food, but once they've been tamed they lose that ability.)

as a side note, you forgot to add any source of food for your dreko. Drekos are unique in that they don't consume food on the ground or from feeders. instead, they eat plants such as balm lily, pincha pepernuts, or their favourite mealwood. You need to plant one of them inside the stable to feed the dreko. additionally, drekos only grow their scales (giving valuble reed fiber and the even more valuable plastic when shearing glossy drekos made by feeding them mealwood.) when in an environment of pure hydrogen.

Most of the plants they consume don't grow in hydrogen, so you'll need to do some planning to get the dreko to grow scales while also feeding it. hydrogen is the lightest gas in the universe, and thus floats above all other gasses. you can place mealwood at the bottom of the ranch and hydrogen at the top. as long as the plants don't die, your dreko will be perfectly fine and healthy

Thoughts on temperature? Mealwood is unhappy over 30 C. Dreckos can tolerate that but prefer 35 C or more. I'm wondering about efficient Drecko product production with Mealwood's lower temperature requirement.

-Room is classified as stable.
-Dupes have critter ranching
-They can reach the room fine
-Drecko is wild apparently

Problem is i don't even know how to make dupes use the station
I don't see any prompt to "shear" or "assign" to these stations.

Same when selecting the Drecko only have standard options and 2 critter specific ones attack and wrangle.

never really bothered keeping the temperature at their comfort zone before. Does it increase their happiness? I've never seen or heard about it doing anything before. anyways, you could use pincha peppernuts or balm lilys instead of mealwood depending on what dreko your taming. normal ones can eat balm, pincha, and mealwood while glossy can only eat meal and bristle. balm and pincha can grow at the same temperature drekos prefer, however they can't be eaten by glossy nor are they as filling as mealwood.

Balm lilys fill the least amount of food but don't require anything except an atmosphere of chlorine. pepernuts can grow in pure hydrogen but require massive amounts of polluted water and are more valuable for cooking food than feeding drekos.

maybe you could keep the mealwood in a seperate room at a suitable temperature, and keep the stable at 35+ and connect the 2 with a permanetly open door. allowing the plants to grow while keeping the dreko at it's desired temperature, although i'm not sure it actually has any affect.

First, you need to tame the dreko by grooming it for a couple cycles. once it's tamed, you can shear it. dupes will groom it depending on both the priority of the station, and their own priority. it seems that the problem is because you haven't actually tamed it yet.

Again how to groom the Drecko cause i don't see any way to do it.
No option to shear no option to groom.

No other wrangling specific options to do with that Drecko except wrangle and drop off.

The main problem i'm having are NOT the conditions not being met but the fact there is absolutely no feedback on to how to USE any of these stations.

Where , how ...?
Google is not much help either.
How the heck am i supposed to assign a dupe to any of these stations?

Ahh so that's how it works. Thanks that was very helpful.
The priority was a problem after all.

After i set the station to Yellow Allert it worked fine.

You should set the rancher duplicants job priority to very high so they complete ranching jobs before most others without the need of yellow alert.
