Taming Niobium Volcano
I have a Niobium Volcano that in a single eruption outputs over 18t of Niobium (337.2kg/s for 55s) at a temperature 3226.9°C. On average it outputs 1.115kg/s (or ~700kg/cycle).

The temperature looks scary, but cooling it is actually not that difficult, because it has low specific heat capacity - 0.265 - while super coolant has 8.440. When 1.115kg of liquid Niobium meets with 10kg of Super Coolant at temperature -260°C, the average temperature will be -247.84°C. So a single Aquatuner would be enough to cool it (but I have four). And obviously a large heat buffer is needed, so I have ~30 tempshift plates and ~50t of Super Coolant. 18.5t of Niobium will increase the temperature of 50t of Super Coolant by about 40 degrees, I am not even counting the metal tiles or tempshift plates.

I am trying to avoid using Robo-Miner, as mining removes half of the mass. So I have been testing in Sandbox what is the maximum mass of liquid Niobium so that it freezes into an item instead of a tile. The results have shown that splitting that 337.2kg/s into 16 will be enough.

However, it only looks that nice on paper, because I am constantly getting Niobium tiles, sometimes even 5-6 meters tall so that they cover the second doors from the bottom.

Any ideas how I could improve this design?

Taming a Niobium volcano ought to be doable using a pair of Steam Turbines and sending the waste water back into the chamber to cool down the metal. The SHC of Niobium falls between that of Gold and of Copper, so the following should work as-is:

(For an iron volcano, you usually need three steam turbines to provide sufficient cooling.)

It doesn't. Regular volcanos output something like 5-20kg/s, not 340kg/s. Such amount immediately becomes a solid tile blocking the volcano.

Cooling it is really not a problem for me. Capturing all 18.5t of Niobium is.

Do you have a save with this volcano which you can share?

(I have Spaced Out DLC, but I haven't played in a while and I don't have a recent game which has a niobium volcano exposed.)
I think you can easily create the volcano using sandbox tools. But here is my save: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PzqXZDi9KPExMByH4am30h1-AJ7mKgGL/view?usp=sharing

It was in C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\Klei\OxygenNotIncluded\cloud_save_files\<STEAM_USER_ID?>\My First Serious Game

Not sure if the last folder - the name of the world - matters.

Thanks for the save; I'll try to take a look.

As for the sandbox tools, you may well be right. I'm not very familiar with them, and I didn't see an obvious way of creating a geyser or volcano.
