Best food for Hatch (farms)?

Hi Community,

i run several hatch farms 4 meat, coal & egg shells (=lime). I fed them sandstone yet, but now i'm totally out of it…
Which material should i give them now?

Feed them sedimentary rock so you start to get stone hatch eggs and in time you transfer over to stone hatches, these can be fed igneous rock and granite which you end up with hundreds of tons of. Much easier to sustain then regular hatches.

Do note that, while stone hatches are much better on your resources, they're also MUCH harder to kill. If your meat farming relies on dupes attacking them (rather than drowning them) then stone hatches are far more dangerous than regular hatches.

They can potentially kill an unskilled solo attacker, where regular hatches are easy to shoot even for a lone dupe.
