Carbon Dioxide
Hi.
What can i do with carbon cioxide? I have always problem with that. I storage it on Gas Reservoir, but its not a solution. For full game i need 100 of them.

The most common methods of dealing with it from what i seen are :
-Eject it into space
-Slickster ranch
-Carbon Skimmers

Regular vacuum won't get rid of the gas it has to be space vacuum (the one at the surface level)

Yea, thats what i mean ;) Space vacuum.
Thans.

The easiest solution is a carbon skimmer. Connect it in a closed loop with a water sieve. The skimmer makes the same amount of pwater as it uses water, and the sieve creates the same amount of water as it uses pwater, so you never have to add or remove any liquids, you just have to supply the sieve with sand or regolith. Doing this will rapidly destroy CO2 and will typically result in all CO2 above the skimmer with a clear path to it being destroyed after a few cycles.

Just make sure there's at least one empty pipe segment in the loop or the liquids won't move and so it won't work.

Thx, but i look for yeasest way to "destroy" carbon. I think send "him" to the space is the best way.

No, the easiest solution is to dump it into space. :) Costs far less energy, needs only a single pump, requires no upkeep at all, and it is the most stable solution you will ever build for this.

One tip though - don't get rid of all of your CO2, because:

1. If the gas pressure becomes too low at the bottom of your base, almost all machines will start heating up very quickly. The CO2 (or any gas) helps with the cooling.

2. Unless you actively work to keep oxygen from escaping from your base, it will start filling the void that the removed CO2 leaves behind. This means thinner air for your dupes, and at some point you will be venting O2 into space. So the CO2 acts as counter pressure to contain your O2.

Add some automation to make the pump run only when it is needed. :)

Whow, i dont new that, thank You.

But that is a complete lie - if you actually look at the power use then pumping the gas costs the same: if you have 1500g/s then you either need 3 pumps (3x240W=720W) or 5 scrubbers and one sieve (5*120W+120W=720W).

If you can build your power plant in space then you can save power by locking the doors open but building miles and miles of piping to pump CO2 around is a complete waste of time.

My personal favorite method was the Slickster method.
Free oil and getting rid of Co2

Problem was i couldn't keep up with Co2 production to feed them and they eventually starved and then Co2 piled up again after a while so had to use Skimmers.

Also, another problem they inadvertently mentioned but didn't realize:

Pumps will pick up O2 and then you either need to filter it out or waste it by throwing it into space. Sensors can help reduce this but it's still going to happen. And, the power is spent pointlessly pumping the O2.
Whereas the carbon scrubber doesn't do anything at all to anything but CO2, and is only active if there's some to destroy.

The carbon scrubber does destroy CO2.

Throwing it into space is the easiest, hands down. Scrubbers when you have your power sorted - that power early on is better used for other tasks.

I usually just pump around 6 tanks worth, for using when I need it - for the soda machine, mostly. 6 tanks off to the side somewhere usually does it. The rest I yeet or scrub.

Look into powerless gas filters, as well. Pretty handy once you get them set up right - Brothgar was the first streamer mention it that I saw, from comments in his Discord, but Tony Advanced has a really good explanation of how they work:

In early game, simply slowly dig downwards and the carbon dioxide will sink to the bottom.

In mid-game you can switch to Algae Terrarium, Carbon Skimmers and/or Slickster ranches. Put them in the bottom and they will consume the carbon dioxide.

Oxyferns, too, if the printer gives them to you, especially with the DLC - if the second asteroid has them, they'll show up on the printer eventually.
