Is the DLC classic mode the same game as without DLC?
So should i play without the DLC or play the classic mode from DLC?
Is there any downside if i play the DLC classic mode?

Classic mode gives you a similar-size starting area as the classic game, with no meteor showers, and the space system completely reworked. Instead of sending rockets to bring back resources, you'll have 5 other asteroids to set up additional bases at. You'll also have a teleporter system that links you to the 2nd of these asteroids, and lets you move duplicants and goods between them.

Lack of meteor showers means you don't have easily renewable filtration mats, so after a couple thousand cycles you'll need to explore the other asteroids, and the space materials are a bit harder to get to, (but easier to bring back large amounts when you do) but for the entire pre-space game, there is little difference.

So what would you recommend? i already playd the base game a bit but always stopped at oil production/refining

Go for dlcs classic mode. I think it opens up for exploring easier and you'll have more to tamper with.

agreed

Okay, now the next question would be which starting asteroid i should take.
i dont really like slimelung so swamp would be the one to go but there is barely any normal water and oxygen is only produced via the dirt

That's up to your preferences. I took a terra start this time, got a whopping 5 natural gas geysers, and 3 cool steam vents (+salt water, cool slush, and hot steam) gold copper and cobalt volcanoes rounded out the usable mix... power and water both easily solved, and massive cold biomes made sleet wheat easy to come by. I got Pacu and Shove voles up, and my entire colony is feasting on surf 'n turf, pepper bread, and frost burgers, 500 cycles and counting, no real issues, and I'm just beginning to explore space.

V-SNDST-C-453673373-0 is the worldseed, if you are interested.

You make clean water with the sludge press, unless/until you open up a geyser or vent, or open up the next asteroid with the teleporter. It's a different set of challenges, but it's not as hard as it looks when you play with the new buildings. The hardest part to me was getting sand for the deodorizers, as it's manual labor I'd rather spend on other things, and the "yucky lungs" debuff is annoying.

I didnt play large swamp start but if its anything like small swamp theres enough mud and polluted mud for long cycles. Perhaps extra dupe for sand and sludge handiwork. Just keep eye on slime biome if it somehow happens nearby. poluted air is everywhere and slimelung outbreak can be horrible.

If memory serves there were small areas of slime biome. It was on outer rims and allmost freezing so most of slime was sterile but some was surely contaminated. Plus large swamp shard has pufts and mushrooms on art.

The difficulty is backwards from what is presented in the DLC at the moment, with Swamp being the easiest I would say. There is no slimelung, you'd only need to worry a little bit about the food poisoning germs that will come in the from of polluted waste from outhouses/latrines and wash basins/sinks. All planetoids are relatively easy though I would suggest trying out Forest as that has been a fun one to start with. I play more often on Spaced Out version though not the bigger Classic one.

Guess i'm mixing it with very icy terra start. Sory for misinformation.
