How do I move eggs?
I got pip eggs, and they are sitting in front of the printer. It says they're incubating, which is fine, but I'd like to move them to a different location. I don't have any incubators.

build a storage bin set it to critter egg/ type of critter. If you want them to hatch, after you move the eggs set the storage bin to nothing and the eggs will drop out.

Make sure to take it out of the storage bin or else they will eventually break instead of hatching into a critter.

Thanks. Seems pretty elaborate- it would be nice if dupes could be told to move things from spot to spot on the floor, but oh well.

That's what Conveyor Rail Automation is for.

The more permanent solutions are an auto-sweeper (or sweep only loader) that transfers items on rails and dumps them off where you want them, and/or incubators that your dupes will haul them to. If you are early game and it's a one-off situation that's when you use the storage toggle method just to get it done cheap, it's elaborate and wonky because it's not the ideal solution.

An auto-dispenser set to sweep only would be infinitely more practical.

for very early game, storage bin set to sweep only priority 9 and jsut selecting the critter egg you want there works.

later though, dispensers are 100 times better. as they will auto drop the egg once it gets there, and set to sweep only your dupes wont get stuck in a loop.

Yeah, that's a lot less elaborate than picking stuff up and putting it down somewhere else...

If you are looking for simple solutions to problems this is probably a game that is going to repeatedly disappoint you. The entire point of the game is designing ridiculous contraptions to solve basic needs for the mindless lemmings that run around trying to follow your orders. The more complex and full of redundant logic it is the better.

Perhaps you're right. I've been thinking of it as a survival game, but it's really a Rube Goldberg game.

More of a macro survival game...
