Critter drop off priorities
What is critter drop off considered in priorities. Having trouble getting dupes to move some wild critters to another spot really far away. They just ♥♥♥♥ off and do other stuff.

I even confined a dupe in the room with the trussed up critter and he still refused to move it. And no, the drop off was not in giant open "room" where it was shared with all the wild critters across the map. The drop off was in a dedicated room in space.

Did you set the critter in the critter selection menu of the drop off for it to be dropped off? There's a lot of finicky stuff when you want to wrangle critters and have them be dropped off:

* Critter wrangle priority (which btw you have to set when clicking on the critter itself, as right now, selecting higher/lower priority on wrangle with the wrangle option is bugged and won't apply anything other than priority 5)

* Drop off priority (this works the same as container priorities, so if you sweep stuff with priority 9, but all containers the debris are set to 5, then I believe the lowest priority is really where it's actually at with regards to storage).

* Critter amount allowed in the room the drop off is in (max allowed 20, can be changed in the drop off menu).

* The type of critters allowed to be dropped off at that specific drop off (the aforementioned issue you might be running into).

Like I said, had a dupe and the critter confined in the same room and locked the door so he couldn't leave. (The door to the rest of the base not the door between each room) He refused to do it. I had the critter escape into an adjacent room. Both the critter and adjacent rooms were closed off from the rest of the base and each other. The room with the critter drop off did not have any other critter in it. The wrangle was set to 9, drop off was set to 9, the allowable amount on the drop off was set to 6 (room was empty anyways), and the appropriate critter was selected. I even had every single priority set to max on the locked dupe. He just idled like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ moron.

(Out of frustration, I just used the debug teleport but would really like to know what the drop off is considered as in priorities. Is it supplying, storing, ranching?)

Ranching and Supplying if I recall correctly. Strange that the duplicant wasn't doing the only errand available.

How can the Dupe confined in a small area with the creature drop it off outside of that area? It seems that task was not possible, so the Dupe could not *complete* it so did not initiate the task.

The door between the drop off room and the dupe/critter room was not locked. Only the door leading from both rooms to the rest of the base was locked. So it was: dupe and critter | dedicated critter room with drop off | rest of base. Even then, he refused to do it. Only thing I can come up with in hindsight was that by the time I had a dupe wrangle the critter and locked in the room was that his shift moved into his break time. At that point I said ♥♥♥♥ it and cheated with the teleport.

ya, it's finicky. you have to make sure the drop off has the right animal allowed and that there's room. the dupe that does the wrangling wont necessarily be the dupe that picks it up. you also have to set priority, i think it's on the drop off.

I've had issues with it shearing. had a room with hydrogen and oxygen. had the shearing in the oxygen part, they would not use it. I moved it to the hydrogen part and they started shearing. why? beats me. I have no idea.

btw. you said you had a dupe in a locked room with the drop off and the critter. if you have another drop off else were and it also has the option to accept. it might be the reason why the dupe is ignoring the command cause it can't get to the drop off it wants to go to. you gotta make sure there is only one option to it. yeah. it's a pain.

Was the ranching and supply job types enabled for this dupe in your priorities screen?

Just increase the priority of the dropoff you want the dupes to take the critter to, or try to balance their work load better. Increasing the priority means something else will be left unfinished instead.

ranching.

edit: but you need the priority of the wrangle task AND the priority of the drop off point to be set higher than other tasks and if the dupe gets distracted along they way they'll just drop the critter and you have to start all over again.
