Water Sieve Not Working
Hello, all. New to ONI and I copied a popular closed-loop latrine design. It seemed to work in sandbox mode, but doesn't seem to be working in survival. Any suggestions? They'd be greatly appreciated. {LINK REMOVED}

the liquid bridge leading to the water sieve input says pipe blocked...but there's clearly pipe built. unless, i'm completely missing something, which is quite possible

water sieve says it contains 20kg of polluted water @ 18.3C

The setup looks good.

Then it has no filtration medium (SAND) inside, it needs to be delivered for it to work.

ok...wait. i think it's because i have no sand. got so wrapped up in the pipes, i didn't consider that additional requirement

yep, you're 100% correct. zero sand in my starting biome. man, this game :0

thanks for the help though

An important note is that you can't sustain a completely closed loop with lavatories. They create more pwater than the amount of water they use, so a closed loop will eventually overflow and stop working. You need a way for that excess water to escape.

You can actually create a very energy cheap way to remove all germs from the water using chlorine. That way you can safely remove the excess water to for example your farms or any other project. I will link a video for you below. The only problem with the setup in the video is that it will sometimes allow a package through that does contain germs. However a simple extra check that will only activate if it finds germs (and then send it back into the cleaner) will solve that problem.

What you can do is to simply let the water reservoir remove excess water with a simple liquid shutoff valve. Just have it set up that the main water storage for the lavatory is allowed to drain water to your main water supply using automation. It is rather simple when you get the hang of it. Automation is really really important when you get into any kind of power which isn't the squirrel wheel.

P.S. When you created a closed loop system. There is no reason to not also add some showers. It gives all dupes some more moral which means you can teach them more skills.

Sending germs to farm irrigation makes absolutely no difference. The germs will just die in the plant.
Food poisoning germs are otherwise largely irrelevant even in cases where they do technically get on things, because you cook most of those things causing the germs to be destroyed. Basically, as long as you aren't using liceloaf and are making your dupes wash their hands before they leave the bathroom, food poisoning is a non-issue.

lol yeah, filtration medium is the usual culprit.

sieve not working outputting? sand.

Pipes breaking? P water was too cold.

Perhaps you don't have sand in the sieve?
