If they did not wake up in the water they probably had no way out, so you would need to either have them dig or build their way out.
The best way to "solve" it is to not have them get stuck in water in the first place, or stuck anywhere for that matter.

Good channel, been enjoying his content. It was funny when in his latest episode he had to faff about for a solid minute trying to deal with some dupes that kept getting stuck while digging. Dem dupes man.

When you start diging regolith and see they geting stunk hell known where, then you see how stupid they can be.
priority is another thing that mess up their digging, if I tell them (that is 9) they some times build other thing or dig somewhere else, because is missing something or the other already is closer or so many other things to stop them.
"sometimes they get those invincible tiles". Something I haven't seen (or at least don't remember seeing) he's describing as somewhat common. Just goes to show how much he is digging.
