The problem is not that there's not enough algea, but that you've used up all the algea before you were ready to move to another method of O2 generation.
For around 12 to 16 Dupes mind you.
I ussually set up around 8 to 12 Terrariums and never worry about O2 again really.
From there Im just building ranches and more ranches. Come to think of it the first thing I start working on is a double ranch for about 16 hatches, below that I put my carbon pit/ Terrarium farm.
Then I start on Puft Ranches which need a lot of Po2 bottles and the easy way to get those is more Terrariums. Dont need the Terrariums forever in a Puft Ranch just the Po2 bottles, however eventually if I leave them in O2 I get Dense Pufts, which isnt so bad.
Comparing to using the deodorizers, producing O2 by puft ranching requires dupes time spent on the ranching and power to run algae distillers. I don't include dupes time needed to make deliveries to the distillers or deodorizers, as this can be fully automated. So in the end not only you get sligthly less O2, but also spend more power and dupes time. This is badly balanced because ranching should provide better benefits.
