I've got hundreds of hours and I've never even gotten into rocket science. Unless you're very good at this kind of game, good at organization, calculating for efficiency, and planning for what challenges come at each stage of the game, you can expect that your first 30 hours or so will be spent figuring out how to get your colony to survive 200 days or so.
Just a generalization of course, but you get the idea. The game is challenging so don't expect to "complete" it quickly.
you can increase the map size quite a bit if you want, I found the default size too limiting so I made it much wider... which makes me much happier.
