Pufts vs deoderizers to make o2 from po2
Has anyone ever compared these two?

Everyone says you should use a puft farm to make slime if you've got a polluted oxygen geyser or dirty water or some other po2 source. But I'm looking at the numbers and the deoderizer looks like it'll give you a 90% return, where the puft farms gives you maybe 40%.

(I'm assuming you convert both the algae and water from the slime into o2)

You just did compare the two :p

I don't see any reason why you'd convert polluted oxygen to slime beyond growing mushrooms.

No reason to ever convert polluted oxygen to algae+water, unless you're exploiting morbs and don't care about the inefficiency.

Well, I'm intending to exploit the 'endless po2 from dirty-water pools' thing, but I'm limited on real-estate and struggling to keep my dupes breathing, so i'm trying to maximize the oxygen i get out of it.

Although I do like any opportunity to dispose of regolith and I can always use ceramics, so that kinda pushes me towards the deodorizer as well.

If you're short on real estate then there's always the possibility of using water sieves, basically convert as much polluted water into clean water as fast as possible then store the polluted dirt in a room where deodorizers can convert the off-gassing into nice clean oxygen. Last time I checked about 60 tons of polluted dirt emits enough to support 1 dupe.

hmm... I hadn't considered that... We'd need a constant input of regolith (easy) and polluted water to keep our polluted dirt stores up... But I was just reflecting that I've not got dirt to use for food, but too much to just keep sitting around..

I might consider that. I'd need to figure out what the base's pdirt production is, and the ratio of converting it to air.

I couldn't figure out the ratio of polluted dirt to polluted oxygen, but if we assume it's 1:1, then 5kg of polluted water turns into 200g polluted dirt, and then 200g polluted o2, then 180g o2.

If a dupe uses the toilet (11.7kg), sink (5kg) and shower (30kg) once a day, they produce 46.7kg pwater, which is worth 1.68kg o2. If a dupe requires 60kg o2 a day... that helps but doesn't get us far.

But then I way outgrew my oxygen production, so I might need all the help i can get. I'll try it.

I don't think there's much info on it but i'd assume a 1:1 ratio just like polluted water --> polluted oxygen.

Here's a possibility, a petroleum generator can produce up to 750g/s of polluted water which is a fair amount(450kg per day). You'd need about 120 molten slicksters to run it continuously but it's possible to get that many.
