Jesus ♥♥♥♥ its annoig, in fist 10 cycles i got already allmost all dupes stress 50+ only cause low moral.... jesus ♥♥♥♥, I lost cause they were using power instead of research and go to decor were 100% of time on the fkng masage table....

Just focus the first few days on building the basic rooms like bathroom and bedrooms. I also just started a new game and am at cycle 10 with no morale issues.

It's a simple matter of being too greedy.

In theory one can achieve 49 morale of max 20 needed

(16+12+6+4+2+2+2+2+1+1+1)

That is, without decor and food bonus (nor penalties) one can exceed even the highest expectations.

both +16 and +12 are the highest food (+5) and decor (+120) bonuses that could alone also exceed the maximum

But for 21 all you need is love, er, I mean...
+1 for being a dupe (very dope)
+1 for having had downtime (ez)
+1 for interacting with a water cooler (given)
+2 for a comfortable Bedroom (needs plastic, otherwise +1 in the early game)
+2 for a plumbed bathroom (early midgame, otherwise +1)

early game that is already +4 if you deduct the gross food.

+2 for interacting with a jukebot
+2 for interacting with an arcade machine
+4 for drinking espresso (needs 1 pepper)
+6 for eating in a great hall (+3 in a normal hall, you basically need only an artist who can paint a masterpiece (4+ creative) since bluff briar does not count)

that means you can actually exchange the 3 power-sink objects (arcade, jukebot and espresso) with Berry Sludge or partially by getting the rather simple +6 for decor bonus (focus should be on making barracks&bedrooms as well as stations beautiful, also, as much as possible, wires should be in tiles or conductive)

For me I was fine until I advanced my dupes to the second level of mining and then both my builders went nuts. Had to slow down and rethink my strategy.

Yeah don't advance your jobs past tier 3.
That jump from 4 to 8 morale is nuts and probably needs some toning down and if you level your scientist up and go to the next tier, they're at 12 morale requirement and pretty much guaranteed to go crazy. Make them something else.

Build a mess room asap, that's 3 morale, build a door for your toilet and make it a room, 1 more and they get 2 for free so after eating mealwood, you'll be at a stable 5. Stay there and tech up.

I think the dev need to evaluate just how much work time is lost by the social interactions (not just Downtime, but also the occasional conversations/reactions/celebrations/etc). Less time actually doing work is less time spent reaching for a stable state in the colony.

Also I suspect that new 'shake the water off' animation is actually destroying water.

Complete stress hell in my first base too. I just plowed through all the stress reactions until everything got built anyway though. Only have the electros to go of the early game stuff. Seems to have calmed down a bit by cycle 75, but man it's a little difficult now. I had two destroyers that I had to keep running into an abyssalite tunnel every time they freaked out, and four stress eaters eating all my mealwood.
The New Friend modifier is the thing here I feel like. Screw morale! ONWARDS!

So far I am very not impressed with how much stalling the new system is causing. Chatting, reactions. Fat waste of time I need them to be working.

And here I thought I finally had my base mostly going well and stable. And then here comes another ♥♥♥♥-you update. Bad enough you have to beg people on forums for help because nothing is documented. Then they go and ♥♥♥♥ everything you thought you had figured out. Bye bye base.

Why do people find this endless futility fun? I don't get it at all.

I started a new game, and wow I need to rethink how i start a base.
stress levels steadily rose non stop. and during break, they would go to the bathroom, eat in water, and COMPLETELY AVOID MY REC ROOM.
Water cooler, 2 mess tables (sometimes used), 2 flower briars, 3 canvases (not yet painted).

HOW do you get them to use a rec room? I would think that moral boost would have at LEAST helped a little :(

Endless negative morale cycle.
Low morale for -25%, start ugly crying, somehow **this crying relieves ZERO stress**:steamfacepalm: and then they animate their feet being wet, so they are more upset about that, ugly cry more, can't even manage to get into bed to sleep.

WTF. And yes the emotes eat up so much time now. This update will end your base.
