Any Way To Improve FPS?
My graphics card died recently, and I just got this game on sale. But there seem to be no options for adjusting graphics and even if I run the game in a tiny window I can only get up to 30 fps. I can run other games decently which have slightly better graphics. (Dont starve runs just fine)

So does anyone know any ways to make the game run better? If not I guess Ill just have to wait until I can afford a new graphics card to play this game.

FPS? Play on normal speed. You'll get tons of FPS... but I assume you really mean game speed.

Reboot several times to make sure your updates are good. Check it in Windows if you're still not sure.
Reboot before playing ONI.
Disconnect from the internet.
Close everything else. Everything.
Make sure your page file is sufficient.
If you can't upgrade to an SSD, look into using a flash drive for your page file.
Reboot after playing ONI.

This game gives you basically no options for video configuration. That said it also is just extremely CPU and RAM heavy due to the nature of the game itself and that's not very reducable with settings.

Hmm thing is I have 16 gigs of ram and a decent cpu. The game runs much faster when I make the window smaller. So I dont think its running slow because of cpu and ram. It seems to just not run well without a graphics card which I think is odd given the minimal 2d style of graphics.

It is definitely optimized for modern cards.

Ah oh well, thanks for the help. Guess I will wait for my new GPU.

try to have your dupes clean up as much clutter as possible, try not to have different gas mixing and moving together. I have found that these things kill my fps.

It really depends on when fps stars to sink. The common causes for it are too much clutter on the ground mid to late game, many gasses mixing in big spaces, again mid to late, many critters with pathfinding. All of these start usually after 100 cycles, and their fix is self evident - don't leave stuff on the ground, clean pockets with wild growing plants, cull excessive critter population, separate map into chunks so gas calculation would go faster.
Other set is game speed, the faster it goes, the more cpu and memory intensive it gets, especially when using debug mode super speed (alt z). This can be fixed only by newer hardware, asaik, but game isn't that demanding, I play on super speed with third gen i5 and 8gb ram with little problem.
The very last set is graphics, which shouldn't even be an issue. But I guess you need at least 3 year old mid range card to run the game well.
Naturally ssd and well maintained os are also welcomed

Actually guys im talking about when I boot up a new game and nothing has even happened yet. Have not even built or dug anything out since the fps was not playable for me. Especially considering I know it will get worse like you say when I do end up having a lot going on in the game.

This sounds like purely a GPU issue.Largely based on the GPU was recently changed and nothing else. Added to it, better performance when playing at a lower resolution. Screen resolution is purely a task for GPU. Texture resolutions do hit the CPU some but that is not what I'm referring to. What is your current GPU and CPU?

Then it all comes down to GPU, as others pointed. The shouldn't be hard on graphics card, but then again the 'baseline' for even light-pc gaming (no AAA, just indie games) keeps rising. And, least we forget, nobody really bothers with optimising these days. So it's totally possible that 'simple' looking games can be taxing GPU (or the pc overall) in a bit unintended ways

My game was running fast and smooth until i came into the late game. In late game the performance is very poor.

I have 32gb of ram, an SSD and a GTX 960, but it still drops to 15 fps with about 40% of the world discovered.

Dropping from 4k@150% to 2560x1440@125% fixed all the lag. It's a GPU bound issue... I would have thought my quad-core Xeon E5@3.6ghz was the bottleneck

Можно скачать:
1)Better Performance
2)Fast track поставить все галочки (или дефолт если не перестало работать игра)
3)Fast safe (в настройках поставить значение агрессивное)

You can download:
1)Better Performance
2)Fast track check all the boxes (or default if the game has not stopped working)
3)Fast safe (set the aggressive value in the settings)
4) in Customizable Speed, set the value to a little more than 2.0 at the third speed.
What should I do besides:
Disable everything except the game itself and close the Steam tab (on a pirate, the above mods do not work together).
Note: when downloading mods, Steam workshop will ask you to download another mod (mod update), we also download it, it will simply update all downloaded files.
